So the adventure I'm running is going to require a DMPC cleric *sigh* and while I'm often the one in the group that plays a cleric I'm rather bored with the usual deities I choose (like Lathander, Tyr, Helm, and other Goody two-shoe styles) and I'd like to try my hand at being a stern, devoted follower of Kossuth.

The character is an Aasimar cleric from Chessenta who's faith in Kossuth is based in Fire and Purity, or more precisely the Purification that fire brings. He's Lawful Neutral and has a determinded demeanor. The reason why he's in the Moonsea region is that he's caught wind of a strong and surging Plague from the city of Glister (the start of the adventure for my PCs) and he's gone to purge the city of this terrible plague.

So as I was flipping through countless books for more lore and ideals on Kossuth I can to understand that there's only 1 specific PrC devoted to Kossuth, the Black Flame Zealot. While this class is interesting, it doesn't fit my character's profile or ideals in the slightest. There's also the Elemental Archon but I'd rather not have to deal with Mephit Underlings and keeping track of them as well. So I was wondering if there were any conversions or even homebrews out there for say a Flamewalker PrC? Anything else that would sort of personify the ideals of Kossuth or bring alive the elements of fire and purity?

One idea I was toying with was taking the PrC Disciple of Mephistopheles (which is very fire-based) and tweaking the class features to a more Kossuth-esque feel. I'd have to add in 8/10 divine spellcasting though and I'm fearful that it'll make is extreamly unbalanced.

So here's what I cooked up in case I can't find a suitable PrC for Kossuth. Again, it's a conversion from the Disciple of Mephistopheles from the Book of Vile Darkness that might work well but I could use some additional input. Thanks!!

FIREWALKER OF KOSSUTH

REQUIREMENTS
To qualify to become a Firewalker of Kossuth, a character must fulfill all the following criteria.
Alignment: Any Lawful or Neutral
Base Attack Bonus: +4
Skills: Concentration +5, Knowledge (religion) +8, Knowledge (the planes) +8
Feats: Initiate of Kossuth [Champions of Ruin]
Spells: Able to cast 3rd-level divine spells
Domains: Must be able to cast spells from the Fire domain
Patron Deity: Kossuth

CLASS SKILLS
The Firewalkers of Kossuth's class skills (and the key ability for each skill) are Concentration (Con), Craft (Int), Heal (Wis), Intimidate (Cha), Knowledge (arcana) (Int), Knowledge (religion) (Int), Knowledge (the planes) (Int), Profession (Wis), and Spellcraft (Int). See Chapter 4 of the Player's Handbook for skill descriptions.
Skill Points at Each Level: 2 + Int modifier.

CLASS FEATURES
All the following are class features of the Firewalker of Kossuth prestige class.
Hit Die: d8

Weapons and Armor Proficiency: Firewalkers of Kossuth are proficient with all simple and martial weapons, but not with any armor or shields. Armor check penalties for armors heavier than leather apply to the skills Balance, Climb, Escape Artist, Hide, Jump, Move Silently, Slight of Hand, Tumble, and double the normal armor check penalty for Swim checks.

Spells per Day/Spells Known: Except at 1st and 6th level, when a new firewalker of Kossuth level is gained, the character gains news spells per day (and spells known, if applicable) as if he had also gained a level in whatever divine spellcasting class granted him access to 3rd-level spells before he added the prestige class. He does not, however, gain any other benefit a character of that class would have gained, except for an increase effective level of spellcasting. If a character had more than one divine spellcasting class that granted access to 3rd-level spells before he became a firewalker of Kossuth, he must decide to which class he adds each level of firewalker for the purpose of determining spells per day and spells known.

Fire Adept (Su): A firewalker of Kossuth who can cast spells gains a +1 bonus to caster level checks and their DC checks when casting a spell with the fire descriptor.

Smoldering Weapon (Su): At 1st level, a firewalker of Kossuth can deal 1d6 points of fire damage through a weapon or as a melee touch at will. This damage is added to damage dealt by other unarmed attacks as well.

Fire Resistance (Su): At 2nd level, a firewalker of Kossuth gains fire resistance 10. At 6th level, this becomes fire resistance 20.

Student of the Flame: A firewalker of Kossuth has intensely studied fire and it's base elements, often researching fire spells of other classes. As such at 3rd level, a firewalker of Kossuth can add a new spell to his existing class list. The spell must have the Fire sub-descriptor and of a level no higher than that of the highest-level spell he already knows. Once a new spell is selected, it is forever added to his spell list and can be cast just like any other spell on his list. Regardless of the spell's original listing, it is now considered a Divine spell granted by Kossuth.
A firewalker gains a new additional fire spell at 6th and 9th level.

Flare (Sp): Once per day per class level, a firewalker of Kossuth can produce an effect identical to that of a flare spell The caster level is equal to your character level.

Summon Fire Elemental (Sp): A 5th-level firewalker of Kossuth can summon one large fire elemental once per day. This functions as a summon monster VI spell with a caster level equal to your character level. A 9th-level firewalker of Kossuth can summon 1d4 large fire elementals once per day.

Fire shield of Kossuth (Sp): Twice per day, a 7th-level firewalker of Kossuth can produce an effect almost identical to that of a fire shield spell. The difference is, while under the effects of the fire shield of Kossuth, the firewalker regains 3 hit points per round and is treated as also having cast protection from arrows. The caster level is equal to your character level.

Ignite the Unrighteous (Su): Twice per day, a 8th-level firewalker of Kossuth can ignite one enemy within 100 ft. as a standard action. The target instantly bursts into flame, taking 15d6 points of fire damage (Reflex save for half damge) and is blinded for 1d4+1 rounds (no save against blindness). These flames are divine and are not subject to resistance to fire. The immolation only lasts for 1 round, though the target can still catch on fire. This ability is affected by spell resistance and has a caster level equal to his character level. The save for this ability is 10 + firewalker level + Wis modifier.

Faithfull's Immolation (Su): A 10th-level firewalker of Kossuth can transform his body into flame for up to 10 minutes once per day. He gains fire immunity and damage reduction 10/—, and anyone he touches must succeed on a Reflex save (DC 15) or catch fire. The flame burn for 1d4 rounds (see Catching on Fire in Chapter 3 of the Dungeon Master's Guide). A burning creature can take a move-equivalent action to put out the flame.
Creatures hitting a firewalker of Kossuth with natural weapon, unarmed attacks, or one-handed weapons take 2d6 points of fire damage and also catch fire unless they succeed at a Reflex save (DC 15). Creatures using reach weapons are not subject to the fire.

I'd add a clause to the student of the flame ability that the spell learned will change into a divine spell regardless of its origins. Furthermore I'd shave off one more increase in spellcasting at level 6 and call it done. Wouldn't want to meet one of these!

Nice work as usual, Diffan.

There's a prestige class in Faiths&Pantheons built specifically for clerics of one of the Elemental deities.

Yes, the Elemental Archon, but I believe he's looking for something specific to Kossuth. Knowing Diffan, he's likely perfectly aware of such anyways.

@ Bladewind: Thanks for the response. Maybe 8/10 spellcasting isn't too bad with all the added abilities. I'll make it so. As for the [Fire] spells, I figured that since they're going to the Firewalker's divine spell-list that it'd be considered divine automatically. I'll change the text that it makes them divine.

I was aware of the Elemental Archon, but that's more of an Elemental Plane thing and not strictly a Kossuth thing. And I'd rather not have to worry about Mephit underlings hanging around. I needed something a little more "cleric" in it's mechanics.

@ Andrekan: Awesome info there buddy, thanks for sharing. The feat Initiate of Kossuth allows any fire elemental summoned additional hit points so that takes care of one of it's features. A few other fire-based spells are reflected in the requirement of the Fire domain (like Burning Hands) but I am replacing some spells like Fireball instead of Resist Energy at 3rd level.

I'll have to add in the whole walking on the Plane of Fire without difficulty somehow. Maybe in the 10th level ability that you can sustain that form indefinitly while on the Plane of Fire?

Thanks again for all the imput guys, much appreciated.

This is what I have so far for my 3.5 interpetation. Not quite finished yet.

Firewalker
Hit Die: d8

Requirements
Alignment: Any nonchaotic.
Skills: Survival 2 ranks.
Feats: Initiate of Kossuth (Champions of Ruin)
Deity: Kossuth
Spellcasting: Must be able to cast 3rd-level divine spells; must be able to cast spells from the Fire domain.

Class Skills:
Concentration (Con), Heal (Wis), Knowledge (Arcana) (Int), Knowledge (Religion) (Int), Knowledge (The Planes) (Int), Spellcraft (Int), Survival (Wis)
Skill Points per level: 4 + Int modifier

Class Features
Weapon and Armor Proficiency: A Firewalker gains no additional proficiencies with weapons or armor.
Base Attack Bonus: As per the Cleric class.
Saving Throw Bonus: As per the Cleric class.
Spellcasting: +1 to divine spellcasting class per level except 5th, 7th and 10th.
Fire Spells: Upon gaining levels in Firewalker, the character gains access to sorcerer/wizard spells with the fire descriptor (that do not normally also appear on the cleric spell list of a certain level). The Firewalker can cast these spells at the same level that a sorcerer or wizard must, without the chance of arcane spellcasting failure.
Fire Resistance: At 2nd level, a Firewalker gains 5 points of fire resistance.
Fireball (Sp): At 3rd level, a Firewalker can use Fireball as a spell-like ability once per day.
Kossuth's Blessing (Su): At 4th level, a Firewalker gains a small but significant boon from Kossuth itself. The Firewalker gains a +2 divine bonus on all saving throws versus magical fire effects and breath weapons that cause fire damage.

There is also a PrC in Dragon #314 called the Heartfire Fanner. It's a bardic-type class, but fits perfectly with Kossuth, and is focused on the "flame" of the soul, using burning passion for life to inspire others. This fits in with your idea of fire and purity (purity of the soul and passion) and would give the cleric a nice second ability-set to use. It would also bolster his allies, which is an added bonus. And it only requires Diplomacy 10, Perform 10, Skill Focus (Perform) and an association with an appropriate organization. (Brotherhood of the Burning Heart, but can be adapted to church of Kossuth.)

The Goddess is alive, and magic is afoot.
