Hi everybody,
do, in the 3,5e rules, multiple castings of spells add up?
for example, ray of exhaustion, if you save you are not exhausted, but fatigued. but if two casters target ou with the spell, you are - if effects stack - automatically exhausted.
keen on your opinions here

A save applies to each spell cast in your example, if both saves made, the effects do not stack.
To try to explain, if you are seeking food 1st round and do not find food, you are hungry. If you do not find food 2nd round your condition ha not change, you are still hunger - you do not become starving.
Other examples can be offered, however unless the spell states making two saves against the same spell stack, the effects does not stack. The only effect would be duration of exhaustion would count from time of last casting of the spell. |

Actually, in this specific case I would say that it does stack:

Doing anything that would normally cause fatigue causes the fatigued character to become exhausted. After 8 hours of complete rest, fatigued characters are no longer fatigued.

This clearly a judgment call IMO. The character did not do anything except be lucky of surviving two attacks. My view is if two sleep spells are cast and saves fail, the character would sleep for duration of last cast spell.
In the end this might belong to DM to decide. |
