We know Telamont Tanthul had been around for some time before Karsus' Folly but exactly how long? Does anyone have any information or theories as to his approximate age?

Rivalen said in TW that he's more than 2,000 years old. Just add 30+ years, and Telamont's age will still be in that same bracket. |

Shadow, LN 28th level Arcanist (Mentalist) Born 3214NY (-645DR) during Netheril's Shadowed Age Died 3469NY (-390DR) at age 255. Death was faked ... Shadow actually eloped into the Demiplane of Shadow with his new wife (the bard-assassin Alashar Crywinds) and his entire floating city of Thultanthar; he left his (dead) physical body behind and created a simulacrum of Alashar to report success to her employer.

And in Return of the Archwizards book 2, Rivalen claimed to be 800 years old.
There are a few continuity errors. |

Thultanthar was apparently created in 2388NY/-1471DR, ie: 826 years before Lord Shadow was born. This error might indicate he took/inherited the city from someone else (arcanists couldn't rule their cities forever, especially before Ioulaum's longevity was invented in 3185NY/-674DR). Perhaps his age and date of birth were incorrectly recorded by confused TSR/WotC staff when they wrote and rewrote Netheril. Perhaps Lord Shadow did some time travel.
Thultanthar left Netheril in 3520NY/-339DR, the Year of Sundered Webs, just prior to Karsus casting his avatar spell. The city of Shade appeared in Faerûn in 1372DR, the Year of Wild Magic; some 1711 years after Thultanthar left. If Telamont Tanthul is/was Lord Shadow then he'd be 2017 years old in the Year of Wild Magic, while his eldest child (Prince Rivalen) could not be older than 1710 years. Assuming that time flows at equal rates in the Realms, Shadowfell, and everywhere else Shade has been, assuming that magical aging is not involved (although Rivalen might have some form of immortality as a Chosen/Exarch of Shar, if such is even necessary since shades are apparently unalive and ageless). |
