It's a real shame you have to sell it , I wish I had the money to buy it from you. |

Well, I just have some more interesting things to do with the money at this point. And yes, it's a damn shame. I don't want to let it go >.< |

I am also looking to sell my (3rd) print OD&D boxed set, which was passed down by my uncle who recently died. Although it has some sentimental value, I am only looking for around 1,000.00 for it. I know its worth much more, If you want pictures and are really interested hit me on up. |

I think that your problem is that most everyone is being effected by the economic downturn. I would say your best bet would be to sell it on eBay. |

It is with sadness that I am selling my 1st print OD&D boxed set (rare variant). I have placed it on eBay for anyone interested.
More pictures upon request (I didn't want to pay eBay to put more within the auction).

Coming in late to this, I see it's sold. Such a shame that you had to part with it, definitely more than a collectible, a real treasure.
I'm curious, there must be a story about how you acquired it. A gift from a kindly old gamer, or a rare find in a collectibles store? Or are you one of us elderly grognards that was around when Gygax was constructing these lovelies? Either way, opening that box must have been a moment to remember!

"The very best possible post-fourteenth-century Realms lets down those who love the specific, detailed social, political and magical situation, with its thousands of characters, developed over forty years, and want to learn more about it; and those who'd be open to a new one with equal depth, which there just isn't time to re-produce; and those repelled, some past the point of no return, by the bad-taste-and-plausibility gap of things done to the world when its guardianship was less careful." --Faraer |

Wish I saw this post sooner! I would have told you to check out Noble Knight Games, they would have most likely made you a very generous offer. They deal in out of print and rare RPG materials. :( |

I'm a rather active collector. I purchased it from another collector awhile back. |

My uncle was a game collector, and always kept his stuff in N/M to Mint condition, but it was more of a hobby for him than for profit. When I was little he let me play a lot of the games that he opened. some where untouchable. He died not too long ago, and everyone thought his games were junk, and wanted to throw them away, so I went down to his house and told them I'd take what I could I took mostly board games, a few books and this set. I remember dungeons and dragons from somewhere probably I was asking to play it when I was little. When I looked it up I seen that it was really rare and popular. I didn't plan on learning to play it now, to complicated so I'm selling it. |

The box in the recent auction has water damage. Just beware. |
