Poll Question:
Ed said he could not disclose which realm would be featured in the next "E.G. Presents..." That is, if there will really be another one.

So why won't we make some suggestions?

Which realm do you think should be explored more in this series?

Choices:

Cormyr
Thay
Rashemen
Aglarond
The Underdark
Shade
Calimshan
Tethyr
Luruar
Luskan
Deep and High Imaskar
Others

(Anonymous Vote)

I can't get enough of Thay, so I voted it.

There's much that can be explored in Deep and High Imaskar and Calimshan, so featuring them might work well. Imaskar was a proud and majestic empire. It'd be great to know how its descendants are faring in the present. Calimshan is big and prosperous, and home to The Twisted Rune---that alone makes the nation sound a potentially good focus of a series.

Every beginning has an end.

Tough choice (which I haven't made yet). Do we go with something like Cormyr that is already given a fair amount of "screen time" in the books, but is also popular and could probably carry a series like that? Or, do we go with something a little more exotic like Deep and High Imaskar even though I am not sure it can easily carry a series (mainly because I don't know a ton about it)? Or something like Thay that has some coverage (but not a ton), but who's current state may prove a challenge as a setting for numerous books?

I would personally go for something like Shade, but I don't see the potential for more than say 3 or 4 books and I know some people (not me though) have had enough of the Shades. If the Shade and Cormyr option could somehow be merged (though I don't see how, unless it is just a new series that involves both instead of E.G. Presents) that would get my vote. I'll have to give this some more thought before I vote.

PSK's new trilogy, as I understand, would cover much on Shade, so I'm not sure if this series can feature it, unless of course its release would be after the last book of PSK's trilogy.

Cormyr had its own series already, but a lot has changed since then. So maybe it could work. However, Elminster Must Die also features Cormyr, and Bury Elminster Deep and the succeeding novels in the new El saga might still be set in Corymyr, so...

It's a toss up between Cormyr and Thay for me. I guess for "other", I'd like to know more about Sembia. I realize there's already been a Sembia series (Gateway to the Realms). Even so, I think the Ed Greenwood Presents aspect of it would be very enticing (at least for me).

Either those ones or The Underdark. Maybe Tethyr as well.

I'd like to hear more about the Border Kingdoms. I love Cormyr, but as some others pointed out, they have had a fairly thorough exposure so far, hence i picked something i really would like to know more about.

This is a tough one. I think any of the options would be excellent. As far as potential sales go, I think Wizard's best bet would be to go with Cormyr, since that is one of the famous locales of the realms.

I voted for Tethyr. Personal preference, really, since I absolutely adore that country and the surrounding regions, and I'd love to see hwo it's getting on in the days following Zaranda/Haedrak.

Thay's pretty famous too, so as Shade. But yes, it seems like among the choices, Cormyr's the one that sounds likely to yield more sales, as, arguably, it's second to Waterdeep as far as popularity is concerned.

See, I'm not looking at it from a sales point-of-view. I think Aglarond would just be a great new article to detail. Enwy has someone piqued my interest as well. I think Tethyr would be equally as cool. Ooooh, I'd even take Tymanther!

Most of the scribes' choices have nothing to do with sales. It's just something WotC might choose, being business-minded and all that.

Being partial to anything Netherese, 'tis my first choice, of course. But I remembered PSK's Cycle of the Night trilogy, which would partly feature the Shadovar. The "Presents" series, should it explore Shade, might sort of overexpose it. At least with Thay, the HL trilogy was long done, and it doesn't look like RLB's next Brotherhood of the Griffon series would have Thay as its setting.

If WotC would again feature new authors in this series, I think it’d be a tough challenge for them, as Paul has set a rather high standard. He’s the only one who’s excellently depicted and given personalities to the Shades.

Good counter points Dennis. I would like to see an Umbriri Swordmage from Shade depicted in a novel though.

I agree. That was my choice.

Actually, I would like Paul and only Paul to write about Shades, making them part of his "signature" characters. Only Ed writes about El and has oft times given justice to the Old Mage, and RAS about Drizzt. So PSK and he alone should write about the Shades---just my own opinion.

Interesting. As it appears like PSK is not yet done writing the whole CotN series, you might as well suggest that he incorporates an Umbriri Swordmage character.

How about Ed Greenwood Presents : The Hidden Powers

Halruua (it's just my personal feelings, but I think much more of it survived than the rest of Faerun may ever know)

Larloch

The Twisted Rune

The Shrinshee

And too many more to list, but this type of format would allow the novels to start in the distant past and come into the current realms

Larloch and The Shrinshee deserve to have their own series---a pentad or a sextet for each.

Oh, I forgot, Larloch is already taken...He'd be featured in The Villains series, Book One.

Personally, I'd go for Calimshan first. Let's have a more exotic locale, and move away from the Heartlands and Thay, areas for a change. Calimshan really gets very little coverage, for all its importance.
