The error message was definitely generated server-side. |

/inc_header.asp, line 134 |

Ask Alaundo if I can assist in getting the site moved to a more friendly server. I have a really good friend that runs Penandpapergames.com. Also on the server are sites such as Loremaster.org and even Koboldquarterly.com. I can get a great price and the site would be more stable.
That being said, CK runs off of ASP, which can be a nightmare. PHP is so much more friendly to work with. |

Or, as I like to call it, the "NO ROOM AT THE INN" error.
At first I was a little ticked. I was jonesing for some Candlekeep!
But then I figured that I already spend too much time around here anyway, so it's probably for the best. If I can't demonstrate the personal discipline to refrain from checking in so often, then bring on the gremlins! |

LOL...well, I'm here all the time. I rarely sleep anymore. I'm literally up at various times all through the entire 24 hour day. Last few have been rough with the pneumonia; but I'm starting to get better.
I just like coming here to Candlekeep more than anywhere else on the internet. It could take a number of years to absorb all the information here.
I'll probably be able to get back to The Five Shires conversion on Monday after I'm pretty much cleared up (as an estimate on time...)
What confused me was that there was "no room" but I think it had to do with traffic to another site hosted by the same folks that host Candlekeep. |

I like PHP too, but it can be plagued by just as many server-headaches and interrupts as ASP. I know from my own experiences when chatting with the admin-folk on the BATTLETECH boards, that PHP can be a very temperamental forum architecture when impacted by outside linkage problems. |

Is it just I or CK is really slow in loading today? It takes ten to fifty seconds before a single page loads. I'm logged on on some other forum, and I don't experience it there. |

I had an issue, a few minutes ago, but I assumed it was due to Websense being turned back on, at work. |

I've yet to encounter any problems, but given that I have "ripped the guts" out of several routines for SageBrowser, I expect I'll be having problems accessing the site soon enough. |

I suspect is your provider or the routers in between you and candlekeep. |

Other sites are loading quite fast, only CK I'm having problem with. I also have another forums open, and it's fine. |

A few days ago, I could not load two of four sites, this likely was router. Servers between me and candlekeep host. Again only best guess based on what you offer. |

I've been having the same issue for the last week or so. Loading anything on Candlekeep is extremely slow and have not had a problem with any other website or forum.
Loading my active topics or a page of the ask ed forums can take a few minutes to load the whole thing.
Just loading this replay page took a couple minutes to be able to type. I got the frame first, then the buttons, the reply space and then some of the messages below. As I'm typing this, I only see 2 and a half posts and still showing the message "transferring data from forum.candlekeep.com" down in the corner. |

It's been behaving for me, and I've accessed the site from three different systems: my desktop, my laptop, and one of my work computers. |

Well met
Aye, this is the standard database open string, so the usual sort of access error. Temporary glitch and all seems well now. |

I also hit ASP problem trying to submit a post, the error lasted two tries so I did not bother to capture it. It occurred maybe an hour or so ago. |

How Alaundo and Sage must shudder and roll their eyes whenever they see this scroll rolled out.
Thrice now I have successfully submitted writings to a scroll, even read it afterwards, then discovered a little later that they have mysteriously vanished. I'm guessing nothing I wrote has been deleted by the mods, so I'm wondering if there's been some sort of server rollbacks or something.
Running Chrome (ver 23something) these days, IE and FF are just too slow.
[Edit] Incidentally, my post count keeps on incrementing, mwoohahaha, another 10 years and I'll be a Great Reader! |

Only when it's from you, Ayrik.

Occasionally, we can retrieve lost stuff that has been caught between ASP errors when posting, but that's only when it's been reported immediately after the fact.

Then you probably won't be all that comfortable with SageBrowser then. |

Pretty much. Sometimes, I can find them with a Google search, or even with the Wayback Machine. But those are rare occurrences, and only really register when the posts have been made, but the ASP error had popped up when the forum returns your browser to the replied-to scroll.

Quite opposite from the normal pattern, it seems. Perhaps anti-Alaundo rewrote the server scripts? |

You must realize that I sometimes don't understand half of what you're saying without recourse to wikipedia, Sage? I think I'm the only nerd in the world who disdains comic books and supermutants. |
