I don't like reading about gods and their Chosens. Also I don't like books where the main character is a cleric. I don't know much about Realms, so can you recommend me some good books for my taste?
I already have Salvatore's and Cunningham's books.

Ghostwalker by Eric Scott de Bie
All four The Cities books if you can find them.
Anything by Jeff Grubb and Kate Novak-Grubb
The Sembia series.
And a bunch of others I've forgotten about at this moment. |

I you like wizards as the protagonists, you can try the Elminster series, starting with The Making of a Mage by Ed Greenwood. Or The Wizards series, starting with Blackstaff.
If you like fighters (like Dritzz't, though arguably not of his calibre), you can read The Fighters series.
If you like large scale battles, events that shake cities and entire nations, you can read any RSEs (Realms-Shaking Events), like The Netheril trilogy, The Threat From the Sea trilogy, The Return of the Archwizards trilogy, The Haunted Lands trilogy, The War of the Spider Queen six-part series, and The Twilight War trilogy. |

The watercourse Trilogy by Philip Athans. The heros of this book are all flawed in someway. There is no hero in shining armor. There is no epic battle. There is not godly wizards who can destroy the world with the flick of a finger. This Story feels very balanced out and you love and hate the characters in a good way. I am pretty tired of Characters with Plot Armor (drizz, elminster, ect..) No matter what the story is about you know they will survive because theres another book around the corner.
These books introduce new characters so you never are too sure what is going to happen. |

If you liked the Salvatore novels, I guess that youdd also like War of the Spider Queen. A good read!
If youre open to a bit more exotic setting, i recommend the House of Serpents-Trilogy by Lisa Smedman. Yuan Ti, Psi-Powers.. :)
You said that you dont like your main characters to be gods. Perhaps youll like Murder in Cormyr, a (funny) murder mystery story that plays among "normal" folks of the realms. |

| If you like a battle mage hero who also has some fighter's skills, I recommend you read The Captive Flame. It's the new book of Richard Lee Byers; book one of the Brotherhood of the Griffon trilogy. |

How about Richard Baker's Blades of the Moonsea trilogy? Great adventure, great pace, crooked politicians, scheming merchant houses, a lich king and a rampaging orc horde - huzzah! And, in my opinion, you don't need to know 'Realms policy' to enjoy them! |
