Participants of the What-If? thread, this is for you!
Have you ever considered establishing provenance for the stories you read? This is an extremely important issue for the folklorist. But I don't see even a citation for anything above... Particularly not for your "Field Guide of Races".
I don't mean to say that one should be forced to cite everything one says at the 'Keep (Save for in the realmslore sub-forum).
Do you think it is possible that all these stories came from... human imagination? Could human intellect have created these forms? And found them fun, and entertaining?
Or, D-brane pseudo-quantum energy beings from the non-temporal Alpha Centauri event horizon could have brought the Ffaeri Ffolk to Stonehenge for trans-gene experimentation and minstrelry?
NOW, how could humans have possibly come up with the same types of stories, geographically and temporally separated? Well it's been done. Really. Check out "The Dream Hunters" by Neil Gaiman. In it's preface, Neil explains how *his creation*, the Sandman, in essence already existed, in the form The King of All Nights Dreaming, a feudal Japanese creation. Neil did not have to encounter a Magical Dream-Goth to have created this character. In fact, when asked, Neil has stated that the Sandman character is fiction. There you have it, empirical evidence showing fantasy generation separated by geography and time. And, by Occam's Razor, this simple solution is preferable to you, ahem, "complex" solution.

Thank you, Brace. You managed to single handedly get my entire scroll nuked. And here arre just a FEW of the sources for my anecdotes. Since you asked so nicely. I'm sitting in a library, so to find sources, all i have to do is get up and go peruse the dhelves for good books on the subjects at hand. Convenient, ain't it?!
"The Vanishing People: Fairie Lore and Legends"- Katherine Briggs (One of the better sources I've found.) "The Lore of the Unicorn"- Odell Shepard(An old favorite of mine as it discusses them from BOTH sides of the equation! Real, or fiction? One can judge for oneself.) "A Treasury of Irish Folklore"- Padraig Colum (Great book. Heavy reading, though.) "American Indian Myths and Legends"- Richard Erdoes & Alfonso Ortiz (Still going through this one.) "Black Holes and Baby Universe"- Steven Hawking ('Nuff said.) "The Enchanted World"- Time-Life sereies volume "Elves and Fairy Lore"
There are a whole lot more, but thses are just a sampling of the better ones. Does this help? Goodbye.

No, but let me help you. Take Briggs, a good source. Now, follow the work that she did... Follow her sources... (You're not in Leeds, by any chance?) And keep on following. I think you will find that the provenance of these stories will indeed begin to coalesce.
Good luck with your theory. Even though you know it's balderdash.
Also, looking at Sage's wording above, another, individual scribe, was responsible for your threads "nuking", not me. I hope he sees that this other scribe had no call to natter, and re-opens it forthwith. Goodbye! |

I surely do not jest.
EDIT: Did I violate CoC in that thread? |

Nah. You surely do. It can't be otherwise. EDIT UP: Yes you did. Calling someone elses opinion "balderdash" (whatever that means) is insulting, and insulting others is against the CoC, I think. |

Well then, Sage, I must hereby publicly (as I have already done so privately) petition the un-Sealing of the "What If?!" thread. As no violation of Candlekeep's CoC occured in that thread, it's Sealing was inappropriate, in my opinion.
