I'm hoping to find any and all information concerning Glister that has been published or hinted at...

such as its founding date? I'm guessing sometime around the Human Kingdom of Thar...but I'm unsure.

Any and all information is welcome.

Keep up the good work!
Some of these places are partly covered by the videogame "Secret of the Silver Blades". I don't know of other sources. There was also a Dungeon adventure "Steelheart" wasn't that in Vaasa/Glister? Hmm.
Monument of the Ancient contains some bits.
I also love to learn more about this area.

The best info on Glister was published in issue #81 of Polyhedron in an article called As Cold as Bare Fingers. Try and find a copy if you can.

Just out of curiosity, do you remember who wrote the article?

I was hoping to have folks post information here from products that are now Out of Print...and not generally available.

That is allowed isn't it?

I don't have a single Polyhedron magazine any longer...

I'll look for a copy...but man, this article is starting to stack up some serious hours of research! LOL

Almost done though...almost...

We can't post complete articles.

Session Reports posted at RPG Geek.
Stem the Tide Takes place in Mistledale.
Dark Curtains - Takes place in the Savage North, starting in Nesmé. I wrapped my campaign into the Hoard of the Dragon Queen, but it takes place in 1372 DR.

Even if the material in question is out of print?

Well then, how about a founding date for Glister?

Wenin is correct. Posting full and complete details from published sources would go against the dictates of Candlekeep's Code of Conduct. We can post summaries of the info, however, or brief quotes from the sources -- so long as they reference where they've come from.

It doesn't matter if material is out of print or not. By law, only the licensed IP holder can distribute their material.

See also rule B3 of Candlekeep Forum Code of Conduct:

quote:
3. Avoid posting large amounts of text quoted directly from WotC products. If you feel the need to do so, please keep the amount of text to a minimum (a couple of paragraphs at the most) and place the text within the Quote box (use the quote icon on the posting toolbar above the text area), stating the product title and page number from which the text was taken.

Edit: Hmm, Sage got here whilst I was typing.

Ed Grenwood. It was one of his Elminster's Winking Eye articles IIRC.

Thanks, that makes it twice as interesting. Seems like it will be another item on my list.

There were several articles covering the Moonsea North in a couple of Polyhedrons. Thentia, Zehntil Keep, Melvaunt, Glister, and in between some lore regarding the countryside from The Ride up to the Frozen Forest.

Regarding Glister, no founding date was given. Some details about the three major temples: The House auf Auril's breath (Auril), The House of Swords(Tempus) and The Hall of Luck(Tymora), some NPCs and so on.
Am wondering actually about the size of the city, population and (not so) secret groups having some agents there.

There is a founding of Glister somewhere.

I've been doing a campaign within Thar, and constructed a timeline from many many sources, and added my own tidbits. This piece is not something I drummed up.

quote:

226-400 DR - Ogre Kingdom of Thar crushed by the Ibrandul, ruled by the last Tharkul, Maulog. He was killed by Beldorann, the founder of Glister.

I recently had a hard drive failure, so I lost my stub article I was putting together for Glister. I'm pretty sure I had a year for the founding of the town. Though I wouldn't be able to tell you the source of the date, or whether it was something I specifically found or inferred by tidbits like I quoted above.
So Glister was founded in and around 400 DR.

Dark Curtains - Takes place in the Savage North, starting in Nesmé. I wrapped my campaign into the Hoard of the Dragon Queen, but it takes place in 1372 DR.

I was thinking Glister was founded right at the time of the founding of the Human Kingdom of Thar...I'll most likely go with that if I can't find any source saying otherwise.

that'd be Dungeon #53

the adventurers are hired in Glister but the module takes place in Vaasa mostly and ends in the ruins of Sulasspryn

it mentions some NPCs from Glister though I believe

don't hold me to this because it is from memory only but i think the Seekers from 2ed Player's Guide to the Forgotten Realms may have traveled through Thar/Glister into Vaasa

Seekers?

The Seekers are an adventuring company. Some of their exploits are recorded in "The Annals of the Seekers," and form part of the content for "exploring" the Realms in the tome Coach just referenced.
