CG, please update when 4shared confirms a lack of penises in your upload. I'd be very interested in seeing this map. I don't think Gmail will take attachments over 100 megs. Also, have you considered Dropbox? Selfishly, I'll send you an invite. It's free and if you join through said invite, I'll get more storage space, which I desparately need as it the primary way we share files for our game. |

I had tried the 4shared thing myself once, and I couldn't get it to work either. I guess they have to be overly cautious, being the last (that I know of) filing-sharing site that the feds haven't shutdown.
So, yeah... obviously I am VERY interested in these as well. |

Ok, it looks like this dropbox thing might just be the trick. However, I can only do links to individual files for public download, not whole folders, so be prepared to do a fair bit of clicking (I think there are 17 maps in total).
Stuff is uploading slooowly, but I may actually be able to get links up today.
Out of interest, has anyone used any of the Handsome Maps in a game? |

Thank you SO MUCH!
Regarding your question: Actually, I'm about to use them today. The party I'm the DM of, is on the south border of Cormanthor right mow (just departed from Deepingdale), and the Map of Cormanthor & the Dalelands helps me out a lot with some sites that are not on the WotC-Map. They still seem to be in canon though.
Thanks again, your generic god must be very proud of you!

I just came across this thread and realized that I had the wonderful map of Anauroch on my laptop already (having found it to determine the location of Elah'zad so my group could return Selunarra to the Realms). Now that I've taken the time to grab all of the rest of the maps, may I (belatedly) say thank you to Handsome Rob, wherever you may be. |

It would seem there's a typo that has snuck in onto your Silver Marches map. Your map says Ruvandell when the town is called Auvandell.
This had me confused. I hope it'll help anybody else who found themselves in the same situation.

If they go the route I suggested in my 'wish list' thread, and make every regional splat its own Campaign guide, then they should provide a player's regional guide on the web - it only makes sense. It would pull a LOT more people into the setting that way.
I believe Paizo's been using just such a format.
As for Handsome Rob - I believe we 'lost him' soon after the 4e release. We also lost Patrakis - he went over to Golarion. Now I see he is back (somewhat) and posting, which is a good sign - it means old fans may be willing to "forgive and forget". Maybe, in time, we will see Handsome Rob back in these hallowed halls as well.
I almost left a few times myself, but I'm an old dog and I don't take well to 'new tricks'. I have too much fun making Realms maps. |

Yeah, I know what you mean about almost leaving. After 4e came out and I didn't like what was done, I almost gave in entirely. I've never been one to follow the Drizzt stories a whole lot (though I've read about 30% of them) and the magic system just tanked for me. Then they tore apart the 3 countries I loved the most (Thay, Mulhorand, and Unther) and I'm not entirely enthused with what happened to Impiltur (its just a little too heavy... I liked it as my "Chivalric country of the East"). Still, I'm willing to see what they do... can they unmire themselves. I've presented some possibilities (for instance, the "United Tharchs of the Shaar" idea... and if there is any region where the Brotherhood of the Griffin might be well accepted, I see there being highly likely... especially if the idea of the wizard academies being on earthmotes is prominent).
If it doesn't work out (as much as I like Ed's work on the realms, he is only one man, and personally, I like his game design more than his novels), well, I've got plenty of stuff on the realms. I could easily run things in the 1300's, or hell, I've always wanted to do a campaign with a group during the century surrounding Thay's formation. That could be very fun.
I've also got stuff on the Shattered Lands, and after the realms, I really like this setting. Ironically, it seems like the 4E team was trying to shoehorn in elements from that into the realms... but it doesn't really fit right because that world was grown from those ideas and the realms wasn't. The problem with that world is that it won't see any future growth.... but luckily they put out plenty to run a LOT of different campaigns if you wanted. I wish they'd put out more novels though.
I've looked at Golarion, and some of it seems interesting, but there is a lack of cohesiveness I feel for some reason there. I'm not sure why, but its like "let's throw together a lot of ideas and make them countries". That being said, many could say the same of the realms if all they saw was the campaign setting. I'm slowly giving it a try as well.
I've not looked at Midgard at all. I saw an add for it in a magazine, and that's about it. However, I am intrigued if anyone knows anything about it. |

These maps are absolutely terrific. Thanks to HandsomeRob (wherever he may be) for making them and Cleric Generic for uploading them on dropbox so I can download the original resolutions. |

Hey all, I had forgotten about you guys - yesterday I got a message from someone in this forum who wanted the full, high-res version of the map that's sectioned off in this thread. Well, if you are willing to download a 880-MB tif file, you can get the map from here: Link Redacted; see my post on page 11 for why -- Wooly Rupert
Please note that I made it a few years ago, and there may be some issues and errors with it, and also it's probably out of date with whatever the current editions say, but here it is anyway if anyone's interested.
Later, -Rob |

Rob, you are a saint. And yes, many of the scribes here were A: Worried you were okay and B: Rabid about wanting a map made by you. Between yourself and Markustay we are blessed with truly great fan cartographers! |

Thank you so much! I'm very glad you looked into this thread again and have blessed us with the full map.
It is really appreciated. I must say, this is the best map ressource I have ever known for any RPG and it helps so much in the preparation and running of a session.
Maybe some admin can help to store this piece of art in a more permanent spot. It would be a pity if the map would be lost, as it's parts were almost lost last year.
Thanks, Rob! |
