I was hoping the scribes here could assist me in a little research I'm doing for a fiction piece. I was wondering when the earliest cannon appearance of a dead magic zone occurred on Toril? From what I've been able to gather, this is first introduced in Forgotten Realms Adventures, back in 1990, as a result of the Avatar Crisis 1358DR. Can anyone recall an earlier occurence?

That's the earliest mention of those for that reason that I can recall.

Alisttair, thank you for your swift reply.
In case my original post is ambiguous, I did not intend to limit my research of the phenomena of dead magic zones to those that occurred as a result of the Godswar; so if there is an occurrence of the phenomenon prior to those invents, I would find this very interesting.

Might be a question for Ed.

I believe Anauroch might be one of the earliest known instances of dead magic zones from the Age of Netheril when the Phaerimm were feeding off the studies and castings of the archmagi back then.

I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

And don't forget Karsus' Folly. It took arcanists several days/weeks to re-invent acces to the Weave. Mystryl's death may have caused more then a temporary magic fallout.

Probably a few strands of the weave were damaged during the brief time that Karsus was in charge of it in his failed effort to retain control (like when someone tries to take something you're holding from youand it rips as they take it).
