If I have made this post in an inappropriate forum, I humbly ask that a moderator put it elsewhere.
I'm an experienced roleplayer with D&D gaming experience in both 2nd and a little 3.5 Edition. I also am familiar with Pathfinder. I'm looking to join a well-DMed game in either PbP/Pbem format or in some sort of instant-messenger/chat-based format (a previous 2nd Edition group I was involved in played via MSN Messenger and used NetMeeting for maps) or similar. I would prefer to play 3.5 Edition as I wish to gain more playing experience but would gladly play 2nd Edition. I have a decent (but not exhaustive) knowledge of the Realms (prior to the Spellplague, at least) but I have no preference with regard to campaign setting.
I'm all about playing the game and having fun, and to me that includes a good balance of roleplay and hack n' slash/dungeon-crawling adventuring. That said, I do my best to ensure my characters are well-written. I have a wide array of source books and as a player/person I am friendly, co-operative, polite and (perhaps most importantly) dedicated. In spite of this post reeking of job-interview-esque banality, I also possess a sense of humor.
I checked the Pbem thread but wasn't sure if some of them are still active (I've been a lurker on Twilight Dawn for some time) and figured I'd played it safe and ask here.
Please get in touch with me if you are a DM interested in discussing this further or if you know a specific game you would recommend to me. Thank you for your generous assistance.

Checkout an application called Fantasy Grounds II. They have forums for people looking for players as well. I'm in a regular every Sunday afternoon game. |
Session Reports posted at RPG Geek. Stem the Tide Takes place in Mistledale. Dark Curtains - Takes place in the Savage North, starting in Nesmé. I wrapped my campaign into the Hoard of the Dragon Queen, but it takes place in 1372 DR. |

Thanks for the advice - I'm taking a look but it looks crazy complicated - how user-friendly have you found the program? Is it easy to get to grips with? |

I found it easy, but I'm a software geek. It is controlled by a bunch of right click pop up circle menus. The software is definately not bug free.
I play a weekly game for 3-4 hours, and most of the problems we run into are internet connectivity of various members, and microphone issues with Skype. Fantasy grounds has chat, but no voice.
As a player, I'm sure your GM would be able to walk you through all the basics you'd need. |

I have looked up the Fantasy Grounds II website. It looks promising, I might give the demo a shot and see how it goes from there. |
