Considering my attitude towards all things 4e Realms related (steadfastly "ummm... no"), I was pleasantly surprised to find at least one story from the Shattered Realms that I liked. Granted this probably stems from a lack of any mention of the spellplague or any other major change in the setting, so I looked at the "1463 DR" date stamp and mentions of the Shadowfell and decided that someone had inadvertently made a few typos. 
Anyway, awesome characters with an plot that seemed more hinged on suspense and psychology rather than action. I loved how Reshka seemed almost likeable at times and delighted in the metaphysical hiccup that Na embodied.
I really, really liked the quiet times spent with the Harlot and the Shepherd. Their discussions made the ending that much more awesome.

| Great read. The characters were well introduced, had substance and lived and breathed Realms. This despite supposedly living and dying in the fifteenth century. I found the premise of a resurrection agent ghoulishly clever, and the suspense never let up until the conclusion. To say I was afraid for Harlot and Shepherd's lives almost the whole time, would be an understatement. If The God Catcher is of this quality, I may just break my taboo on 'New Realms' novels and buy it. Great job by Me. Evans! |

| I liked the premise very much and the story really is a tidy, well done work. But for me it didnt have the feel of the realms. With the exception of the priest, the whole story could have been set anywhere.(and that's not necessarily a bad thing mind you, .... words like cyrptonym felt out of phase with the rest of the story.....but that is a minor thing) I was not familiar with the area or the vampire baroness...maybe if I had been, it would have felt more realmsian...but I still enjoyed it. |

Thank you all for the compliments! It was definitely a fun story to write. Well, fun and creepy. And it means a lot that you all liked it.
Walker, I think that's one of the tricky things about writing fantasy, especially in the Realms. Spies exist, code names exist--but that sounds off, doesn't it? Too science fictiony. Since it was one word in a quick conversation, I opted for the older term instead of inventing a new one. Ah well.

And if you liked it, my book Ed Greenwood Presents Waterdeep: The God Catcher came out today. Though if you liked teh story for the zombie dogs and finger dismemberment, The God Catcher doesn't really have so much of that. More dragons and identity crises, less necromancy and metaphysical quandaries.  |
