Here is Shantel Othreier, home of Coronal Ynloeth & his famous shattering swords "See Hell Gate Keep". An empire torn apart by rivals Aryvandaar & Illythiir right at the height of its Golden Age....

As yet, I had only time to quickly browse through your works - but even a short overview made me look open-mouthed at your growing list. what you did is awesome, pure and simple. keep up that great work! |

Good stuff Snowblood. I'm curious though, on your map of Shantel Othreier how did you figure out how much of the area is wooded? I'm curious because I've been playing with the idea of a "green explosion" in the North/Sword Coast caused by an epic spell cast by an elven druid to return the area to it's pristine state before humans. The woods would be highly populated by mischevoius fey as a replacement of sorts for the Spellplague. My thought is to capture the "points of light" idea in a Brothers Grimm/Hans Christian Andersen (spooky/haunted forest between towns) kind of way. |
If I waited till I knew what I was doing, I'd never get anything done.

as far as forest coverage is concerned...I just worked back from various sources, such as Steve Schends & Ed Greenwoods Works, and an article on Sharn by Brian James, and the map/time line in his web article on Moonshaes, plus the old maps in GHoTR and the old netheril boxed set. The Fields of the Dead is millenia old, south western netheril was forest, the Brian James map shows alot of forest of Shantel othreier & dates it & Ed words in Serpent Kingdoms & Stevens in Lands of Intrigue and Empires of the Shining Sea did the rest. I then just picked a date when the empire was mostly intact with some dragon fire damage IE the fields of Green. Oh and the big empty below Evereska. in Dwarves Deep it mentions the marsh of Chelimber being forest and the plains between it and the sunsets always being there.....cheers

Myth Lharast is still a working part of my campaign....until we've played out the kinks I'd rather leave that one on ice until 'After' my players have been mangled by it.....hehehehehe |

Great work on these maps. They are very helpful in visualizing the conflict.
You might reconsider Tethir on the map of Shantel Othreier. Tethir did not make his claim to fame until -11700 DR, and they named the region for him afterwards. See the Grand History of the Realms and Lands of Intrigue. |
