I'm getting ready to resume my high-level FR campaign, after a brief interlude in a homebrew world. I intend to re-introduce an old nemesis of the PCs in the 're-opening' session, one whom they never got close to cornering, let alone finishing off. They ran into this lady in the underdark, and she ran circles around them then, and they still get a little red in the face when she's mentioned (she stole the Paladin's Sun Blade right out of its sheath, the Loremaster's spell components from his belt, the rogue/ranger's longbow and quiver from his belt, and the Cleric's holy symbol from around his neck, just before a big battle, almost dooming the PCs). When the (then 14th level) party faced her, she was a Ro5/ Clr5/ DvS 5. Now that the party is 18-19th level, I wanted to level her up, as well, but I just can't find a good rogue/cleric PrC that works for a drow Kiaransalyn, either in mechanics or in flavor. If anyone can think of one, I'd be appreciative. Her main focus is in stealth and misdirection, and I suppose I could just give her more rogue levels, or even some ranger levels, but I was hoping to find a PrC that added spellcasting while retaining rogue class skills.

The only ones I can think of are the Shadowbane Stalker from Complete Adventurer or [b]Temple Raider of Olidammara[b] from Complete Divine. Both would require tweaking to get what you're going for though... |
I actually DO know everything. I just have a very poor index of my knowledge.

I'll second the Temple Raider. Certainly a lot of fun can be had with that particular class. And Erevan Ilesere makes for a suitable alternative deity when working it into the Realms. |

Thanks Ashe and Wooly: I think the Temple Raider might just do the trick, and I'm just now finding some neat stuff in Prestige of the Realms that might be even better. Sage, I like the idea of this as an Earavan-specific class, but it won't work for this particular NPC... she's (as I conceive her) a Kiaransalyn who embodies the sort of vengance in petty slights which lead to dire consequences. I LOVE this NPC and can't wait to plague the party with her again; I just need to make sure she can stand up to the party (which is formidible) |

Here is a Chosen template of Kiaransalee I created if you wanna make her more powerful via chosen status.
Chosen of Kiaransalee Also known as The Yathrinshee
Its a template that can be added to any Elf or Half Elf.
A Chosen of Kiaransalee uses the character's statistics and special abilities except as noted below.
BONUS SPELLS (Sp): Constant~~ Detect Undead, Cloak of dark power, Magic circle against good. At will~~ Holy Sword, Desecrate, Speak with dead. 5/day:~~ Suggestion, Blacklight, Death Ward. 3/day~~ Undead Lieutenant, Kiss of the Vampire, Banishment. 1/day~~ Energy drain, Create greater Undead, Gate.
Immunties (Ex): Chosen of Kiaransalee are immune to all the special attack forms from undead beings. They never age but still die when the time is at hand.
Negative energy absorbtion (Su): If the chosen has been successfully attacked by any undead with fewer than 12 hit dice she gains the amount of damage inflicted to her hit points.
The Revenancers smile (Ex): The Chosen of kiaransalee gain a +4 bonus to the DC of any of her spells cast from the school of Necromancy or with the Retribution and Undead discriptors while in the underdark. On the surface however this bonus drops to +2.
Mantle of Nightmares (SP): On command the chosen may summon a cloak of rattling bones that causes fear in all living creatures that hear it, requiring a successful Will. save DC30 with a -4 penalty to avoid its effects. She may use this ability once a day, and it lasts a total of 12 hours a day. (the hours may be broken up seperately into rounds).
Loyal Undead (Su): In any given round the chosen can command the absolute loyalty from any undead creature within 200 feet that has less than 8HD and is not of a divine status. This ability functions constantly.
Curse of the Revenancer (Sp): Once a day the chosen may make a touch attack against any living creature. If the attack is successful the opponent must make a Fort. save DC30 or otherwise nothing short of a Wish spell or a Remove Curse spell cast by a 14'th level caster can remove this curse. Once the curse is successfully laid on the creature, any foe killed by the victim has a 15% chance of rising from the grave as a Revenant. If the foe has a Con. score of 18 or better then the chances increase to 30%. If the foe is a follower of Kiaransalee then the chances increase to 50%. If the foe is the chosen who laid the curse, then the chances of rising as a Vampire Lord is 100%.
Spell Immuity (Sp): The Chosen is immune to the spells listed here as if she were constantly under the effects of the spell, Spell Immunity. *Detect evil *Consecrate *Slow *Enervation *Mark of retribution *Greter dispelling *Holy word *Symbol *Wail of the Banshee
The vengeful banshees blight (Sp): The Chosen can use this ability one time a day. This ability works just as if she had cast the spell Unholy Blight, except that the area of effect centers on her in a 60 foot radius spread. It deals 1d12 points of damage per 2 caster levels (maximum 5d12) and heals all undead in the area the same amount. It also sickens good creatures for 1d6 rounds causing a -3 penalty to all attack, weapon damage, saving throw, skill, and ability rolls.
Kiaransalee's Undead ally (Sp): The chosen can summon five Wights 4x/ day, three drow vampires 3x/ day, two drow cursts, 2x/ day, or one Nightwalker twice a week.
Saves: The character adds + 2 as a bonus to all saving throws, and + 4 divine bonus to saves against Necromancy spells and spells with the Undeath and Retribution discriptors.
Abilities: Increase from the character as follows: Dexterity +3, Strength +2 Charisma +3, Wisdom +4.
Skills: Hide, Intimidate, move silently and Intuit direction are class skills, regardless of the character's class.
Feats: (You gain these feats automatically without meeting their prerequisites) Improved Familiar (either a Fiendish Bat, Giant Lizard, Fiendish Viper, Homunculus, Ice Mephit or Imp) Stealthy, Survivor, Twin sword style.
Climate/Terrain: Same as the character.
Organization: Same as the character, But must be a devoted follower of Kiaransalee.
Challenge Rating: Same as the character +5.
Alignment: CE, NE Treasure: Same as the character.
Advancement: Same as the character |

I've read through your thread, and I keep thinking: "How would giving her a few levels of Shadowdancer help?"

Or possibly the True Necromancer PrC from Tome and Blood. |

HELLo!
Indeed, the Shadowdancer PrC sounds like a perfect addition to this NPC. If she'd been an arcane caster, I'd say that Arcane Trickster would also have been just the perfect thing. At least according to the description of what she did with the party's equipment. :-P
As for the PrC Copper Elven Vampire posted: I think that'd be way too powerful. Especially with the high saves VS abilities, multitude of bonus spells, ability increases, automatic bonus feats, and (last but not least) the Undead Ally! 3 Drow Vampires alone is an ECL of 13, and that's standard vampires without any class levels or any extra HD. It would, at the very least, require a lot more than just a +5 LA. Methinks.

Well, it's not a PrC, it's a Chosen Template which are intended to be powerful. I figured if you're going to run a High level, Magic heavy campaign, why not make your Cleric/Rogue a Chosen of Kiaransalee.
Happy game! |

Thanks, all... I had considered the Shadowdancer but 1) it doesn't add to caster level (which I want her to have, as she is totally on her own in a hostile environment, and has been for some time) and 2) I've established that Shadowdancers in my home game are a discrete group, and hard to gain admission to. The PCs met a group of Shadowdancers in Maerimydra, and worked with them *against* the Kiaransalyn, so that's pretty much out. CeV, I like your template, but it's also out, as it's been established that Kiaransalee's Seraph is a cleric in the Vault of Gnashing Teeth under Vaasa. This is a just a Divine Seeker of the Revenancer out for vengance against those who 'wronged' her. I'm thinking of just upping her cleric level to 9 and adding a rogue level. This will give her 5th level spells, plus some more skill points for stealth. I am still concerned that she won't be sneaky enough to elude the party, nor robust enough to fight it off, though. I figure, though, that she had the chance to pick over the hidden caches of equipment in the fallen city after the PC's left, and I may give her a helm of teleportation, so she has a 'get out of jail free card'. What it comes down to is that the PCs are overwhelmed dealing with new and ongoing challenges, and I want their past to catch up with them at precisely the wrong time. IF it goes well, this may just push them over the edge into being super-paranoid and doubting everyone they thought they trusted... which is just the tone I want to set. (in case you can't tell, I'm looking foreward to this in a 'rubbing my hands together and chuckling evilly' sort of way.) |

Well.. You could always modify the Shadowdancer a bit, make a new PrC for that NPC. One that drops some of the benefits, in exchange for the +1 caster level at every (other) level. Lots of adjustments you can make, as you are the DM after all.
Copper Elven Vampire: Ah, right you are. Sorry about that slip up, though I still feel it's too powerful for the LA you've assigned to it.
