Wanna hear a story do ye? Maybe two? Hahahaha! Well grab a tankard and listen up, for the story I say is called (in a low voice) "The Awakening". Lame title you say? Aye, it may indeed be. But after I am done you'll see what I mean. This story bends reality with fantasy it does, when that of the past and that of the future collied an interesting outcome is sure to arrive. Now be still and say no more, for the tale I talk of shall start.... (in a low voice) Now.

As the Kazoon Wars came to an end, the humans had lost. After the breaching and destruction of the dark crystal, the swarms of hell were unleashed upon the world once again. Lead by the Lich King, they swarmed throughout the countryside destroying everything in their path, like a disease bent on making the people of Lartho nothing more then a mere memory. Those who survived the initial attack from the hellish creatures fled to the land of Karagooth, a large land mass held in charge by the sorcerers of Vargoo.
Sworn to protect those who resided in their lands, the sorcerers brought forth the best of their warriors from all the races that dwelled in their lands. The necromancers of the Dark Marshes, the barbarians of the north and even the Vargoos best paladins. Joined by others, they went forth to destroy the demon army once and for good.
However, their leader King Larchos fell to the dominate mind of the Lich King. In the few moments before the intal attack, he betrayed not only his army but the remaining people in Karagooth, by telling the Lich King of the whereabouts of sorcerers army and that they were planning to attack. With this knowledge, the Lich King easily defeated the opposing forces, slaughtering them all. With this defeat, the remaining people fell into turmoil and were doomed to be wiped out, until a small shimmer of hope occurred. Even though the world as they knew was gone from them, there was a chance that they could, if not alter the future, then that of the past. With this, the adventure begins in Estaleem, a stronghold that once belonged to the priests of Vargoos was now in control of the paladins known as the Fire Stars...

"Men to their weapons!" bellowed Rath McRalie, commander of the Fire Stars in Estaleem.
One of his sergeants ran up to him, mace drawn and in full plate mail. "Sir, the enemy is in the horizon and is coming fast. I give about 10 minutes before they reach the front gates." Rath nodded and walked up the steps of stone wall that surrounded the stronghold. To the north the sun was setting, although its piercing glare was being blocked out by the black smoke that was receding into the skies like a thick fog.
Kanel, Raths 2nd in command and trusted friend, casually walked up to him with a pipe in his mouth. "Want some?" he asked.
"No" Rath muttered.
Kanel shrugged his large shoulders and inhaled deeply. "You know," he started, exhaling the smoke into the air and taking a glance at the barracks behind them, "if old Marcus knows what he is doing then we should have no problem at all."
Rath turned his gaze from the smoke stricken sky to Kanel. "Look here" Rath said in a harsher voice then he had intended."Marcus is nothing more then an apprentice mage. If he fails, then everyone in Karagoth will be lost to use. Hell everyone will be." He turned back to where the smoke was rising over the hills. "Who would have guessed this would be the last sunset we would ever see? We have 300 men, some never to have hold a weapon much less use one, and they," gesturing to the smoke, "have over 1500 creatures that could have only a madman could have imagined in the worst of nightmares. We will only last for a few minutes before they break down the gates and kill us all."
"Aye." Kanel quickly agreed, "but to die as young as me... well I'll leave the best looking corpse around!"
His friend was know to lighten the mood even in the most dire of situations. "Ha ha ha, after me that is."

"Rath!" someone from below yelled, "they advance!"
Turning from Kanel he shouted to his officers, "Get the men ready!"
"Archers to the walls!" someone else hollered.
Rath took one last look towards the smoke to see the faint outline grotesque advisary emerging from it. "Kanel, you are in charge for I must see how Marcus is doing." With a quick nod, Kanel rushed over to the archers that were mounting on the wall behind them, barking out orders as he went. Rath bolted from the wall to the barracks in which Marcus was in. The barracks was the largest building in the stronghold and stood three stories tall. At the end of the 3rd story hall was where Marcus was preparing for his task.
Saluting the soldiers at the chamber doors with a quick nod he entered the room. Inside the large windowless room, there were three priests, including Marcus, who were busy reading through old scrolls that had been brought up from the library. They were not of Vargoo origin as those sorcerers were all slaughtered after the war by the demon horde There were also a group of armed men who stood around to ensure the protection of the sorcerers as they prepared their spell. "Marcus they advance! Are you..."
"Shut up, cretin," Marcus snapped, "To many interruptions isn't good for those who wish to live. Now be gone, for I am almost done." Rath noted that for an apprentice sorcerer, he had the tounge of an elder. He left Marcus and the others to their work as he ran back to 1st floor. When he reached the 2nd he could hear the cursing of men and the clanging of steel coming from below.
The creatures must have already entered the barracks, he thought as he withdrew his blade. Taking 2 steps at a time he reached the bottom of the stairs and saw that a horrific battle had begun. No problem was it recognizing his own men from the invaders, for the intruders were nothing more then walking skeletons, each brandishing weapons, shields and some with armour too! Running to the front line of his men, he met with Kanel who was swinging his massive maul back and forth crushing bones as he went. Now noticing his friend, Kanel shouted out over the battle going on, "It is a losing battle sir, best to drawback." Rath batted at the skull of an undead with the flat of his sword, successfully knocking it from the creature shoulders and thoughtfully agreed with Kanel. They would make a last stand on the 3rd floor. He yelled to Kanel, "Bring all remaining men to the 3rd floor for a final stand!"
"Aye!" Kanel shouted back. Once again Rath left his men to go to see how much longer until Marcus would be. Entering the chambers, he asked Marcus if he was ready yet. "Yes... yes I am, bring in the children." From a side door came 4 maidens, each carrying 2 babies while the last carried but one. After them came a young man in who had just turned twenty. His name was Khan Mefilo.
"Put the children around the circle," Marcus ordered, "aline them with there races ancestral symbol." "Khan, you go into the middle and lay down." The 8 of them were put into the correct spaces and Marcus, followed by his sorcerers, went to each of them and marked them with a symbol on their foreheads with his finger. The symbol, which was red, quickly disappeared into their skin. As Rath looked on with some curiosity, Marcus implied that the symbol was for safe travelling.
Looking back at his tomes, Marucs began chanting in a language that Rath had never heard in his lifetime. "Basara Ty Komi!" he chanted, "Gazara! Wendo Ty Ureh! Magri! Magri! Lunchin Ahin! Luchin..."

As he said that final word the doors to the chamber swung open, and in stumbled Kanel, a large gash on his chest that was pumping blood from it to the floor.
"We are out of time..." is as far as he got. In his chest appeared a black sword which was yanked to the side, ripping through flesh, bone and armour, like a knife through cheese. From the doors came the undead, though Rath could not tell who slain his friend. After a brief scuffle between the invading dead and the defenders, only Rath, 3 of his men and Marcus, with 1 of his priest remained standing. From the back line of undead came forth the owner of the sword which had slain Kanel. Covered from head to toe in black armour, the figure was no doubt the one called Krandor, one of the undead legions commanders.
"So this is it, the last of the human resistance?" With a quick slash of his sword, he beheaded one Rath's men before anyone could react. The other 2 attacked, but Krandor was able to knock aside there blows with ease, impaling the first and snapping the neck of the second. Once done with the two, his eyes felled upon the children and Khan.
"Ah their they are," Krandor said. " My king shall be pleased once my sword runs with their blood." As he took a menacing step towards the circle, instinct took over and Rath swung with all his might at the demon lord. Though it did breach his armour, the blade did not kill Krandor, only slowed him down.
With this small opportunity, Marcus chanted the last of the spell, "Ques Ty Norgu! Protasi! Ureh! Protast!" As he finished the final word, a small flicker of light started in the middle of the circle, right over Khan, and grew brighter and brighter until it engulfed the whole circle. Seconds later, the children and Khan had disappeared.
"NOOOOOOO!" bellowed Krandor, "You old fool! You shall die for this!"
"Not today." bellowed Khan, whose eyes had recovered from the spell that had just taken place. As he brought his sword down again, Krandor simply grabbed the sword in the air and snapped it in two. With a quick gesture, he reversed the snapped blade in his hands and plunged it deep into Rath chest.
"Your turn old man." Rath could hear Krandor say, as he fell to the ground. Landing on the stone floor, he heard Marcus say, "It is time for us all, demon!" And with that Marcus muttered something that he could not understand and all went silent.

Present day- Dumberdore Lumber Camp

"Yo Steve turn up the heat back here!" Jay shouted from the back of the van. "I am freezing my ass off."
"Yeah man." Stu said. "Colder in here then it is outside."
"Stop complaining, we're here". As the van came to a stop, the men jumped out, and opened the back to get at their saws. "Old man Peterson wants us to cut this all away by next week so that he can reopen some train yard," Steve said "So lets get to work, the sooner we are done the better."
"Amen to that." Walking across to the gathering of trees, the 3 men got to work. It was late out and the cool night air made things somewhat difficult to work in, but the chance to finish now and get the rest of the week off was to musch to pass up. However, 20 minutes into it, Stu turned off his chainsaw.
"Hey guys!" he shouted "Look at this!" Seconds later he was joined by his co-workers and they saw what Stu has stopped for. Behind a bunch of vines and bushes was a red diamond the size of anyone of the mens fist.

"Holy crap, that is one big rock."
"Ain't a rock... a diamond!"
"Move aside." Jay ordered. "I'll get it." As he reached for it, Stu could have sworn that the once dull red colour of the ruby had gotten brighter. Must be the moons reflection, he thought to himself "Got it." Jay exclaimed.
"Jay man, maybe you should put that back." Jay looked at Stu with confusion, unaware of the fact that the jewel was getting brighter and its colour had changed to a orangish/red colour. Almost like fire...
"Why the heck would I..." he was interrupted by the jewel. Its eriee glow now reflecting in his face. "Wha the fu..." Unable to finish his sentence, a wave of fire shot forth from the gem, and quickly went up Jays arm, engulfing him almost instantly. His screams began to weak as the flames reached his face.
"Holy ****!" Stu screamed. The fire was still aflame on his body as the charred corpse of what use to be Jay crumpled to the ground.
A loud explosion from behind Stu and Steve sent them running for cover behind some machinery that was from the day before. The remnants of their van fell to the ground, cutting off all hopes of fleeing from whatever was happening. The construction site was in the middle of nowhere and they had driven deep into the woods to reach it.
The ground around started to shake and then as soon as it came, it stopped. An unsettling silence covered the area. No birds, animals or even the rustling of the leaves could be heard. They could only hear the crackling of fire as they came out from behind the machinery they had taken cover behind in.
"Jay!!" Stu shouted. Running towards their once large and former friend, they saw nothing more then a few ashes that was where Jay was standing. "I think that we should get out of here." Stu said in a whisper, his face undoubtable as pale his the t-shirt he wore.
"Yes you should," came a voice from behind them, "but that doesn't mean you can!" They turned around to see the air around the crystal start to shimmer and disorient the appearance of the bushes behind it. As it grew bigger, out came a large man, cladded in armour as dark as night.
"It is a f^cking knight!" Steve shouted.
"Yes, I guess you could see me as that." the man replied, "but does it matter? I will be the last thing you see!"
With that he quickly charged at the 2 lumberjacks, unburdened by the heavy armour he wore or the massive sword he brought to bare.
"Get down!" Stu shouted.
He ducked in time to miss the blade but Steve, paralysed from fear and amazement, didn't move until his head was rolling across the dirt ground and his body collapsed.
"God help me..." Stu started to whimpered as the black figure loomed over him, blocking out the sun.
"God isn't invited." the black figure carped and brought his sword down for a second time, splitting Stu's skull in half until it reached the dead mans neck. With a quick yank, the two sides of the man head flopped to either side, a sight the made Krandor chuckle, before Stu's body rested to the ground.
"Krandor!" bellowed a voice from the red portal the armoured man had originally came from. "Enough of your games... you have tonight only to accomplish your goal... now go forth and don't fail me."
"Yes my king."

Keep in mind that I wrote this at the youthful age of 14 (for a media project) and that it hasn't been edited since then, so don't be a hassling it.

Warehouse - 7:00 pm
"Hey Ray, the band is here."
"Good." Ray Rodgers replies. Being small for his age and having orange hair made life kind of hard for him while he was growing up. Instead of relying on looks he went with humour. Even after his dad said that they would be settling down in Kingstown, he knew that wouldn't last. After his mom died when he was young, he and his dad were always moving around, and with his dad being a big time movie director, some of the movie spots were "out of town" as his dad said. O well, he thought, nothing is going to spoil tonight.
"Bring em in." It was the last night before the senior class of 2006 were going to graduate and his dad had allowed him rent out an warehouse that he owned. This was going to be the last time Ray would see his friends before he moved halfway across the world to Europe for one of his dad's movie spots, so he had invited all the graduates.
"All right, move your stuff to the stage and set up." he tells their manager. "You got 30 minutes so hurry up."
"Catering is here!"one of his friends calls to him.
"Bring em to the tables!" Ray shouts back.
Someone taps him on the shoulders as he bendst over to check on the speakers for the band. "I told you... why hello." Standing in front of him was a gorgeous red head who he had never seen before. "Can I help you?" he asks.
She nods, taking his hand, and lead him to the hallway in which Ray had set up as a bunch of bedrooms and washrooms for his guests. "Kyle take over... I got some business to take care of." he says with a wink."
"Ok man, but slow down the party hasn't even started yet."

Outside the warehouse the cars had started to arrive. Zachary Bennett drove up with his old mustang and picked a spot by the entrance. Well, well, he thought, this is going to be an interesting night. Getting out of his car, he reached for his pocket for a smoke and lit it. Ray has gone all out this time, he thought, as he saw the Hollywood spotlights highlighting the big banner out in the front which read "Class 2005-2006". Looking in his mirror, he saw himself, black hair slicked back, brown eyes, sideburns, "you look like Elvis Presley" he remembered Cat saying once. From behind him he heard the snapping of a twig. "Hey whose back there?" he asked. Since no one replied, he left it at that and headed to the entrance.

"Were here" Seth Powell shouts from the front.
"Lets party!" his friend Pete cheers.
"First lets get out of the van before you all do anythin." The four of them get out of his parents van and head towards the warehouse.
"Damn Ray has done it again."
"His old man must really fork in the money to be doin this."
"Yo Seth your girl is here" things to have in a girl.
"Well?" she said "Last night of school! Lets party!" Pete says. Turning around he see Mary Brooks drive into the parking lot.
"I'll meet you guys inside." he says as he heads to Mary's car. Mary jumps out of the car, giving Seth a quick kiss on the cheek.
"I'm here." she exclaims.
"I can see that." Seth replies with a smile. Smart and sexy, he thinks, two great things to have in a girl.
"Well?" she asks "Last night of school! Lets party!"

"Late already." he said aloud. Looking around for a place to put his car, Ryan Priest parked his old beat up Mazda into a parking spot and came to a stop. Today had not been his day. He failed an exam, missed showering this morning and still didn't get enough courage to ask out Brittany Owens. They had been friends for a while, but he always did like her more then that. Now he wouldn't get the chance to know what would have happened unless he met her tonight, since he was going to the local college and she was moving to Canada to join a University in Quebec. Stepping out of his car, he stepped straight in to a puddle of water and mud.
"You gotta be kidding me." Slamming his hands against the wheel he accidentally hit his car's horn, which sounded like a dying cow. Crap, crap, crap, he thought, a good start to the last night of school. Avoiding the puddle this time, he got out and started to head to the warehouse.
"Excuse me sir." came a voice came from behind him. Turning around he saw a young man, maybe 30 or so, wearing what seemed to be a heavy cloak of some sort. His face was hidden, partly from the hood over his head and the rest from the shadows, but Ryan could still make out his eyes, a shade of piercing green.
"What can I do ya for?" he asked.
[ i]"You don't buy any chance have the time do you?" Looking at his Timex, Ryan read off the time, "almost 8 why?" When he looked up the man was gone. That's not to weird, he thought. Well time to go party, whoo hoo.

Back in the shadows, the man watched as Ryan headed off towards the warehouse. They are all here but 2, he thought. Heading towards the back of the warehouse, while keeping from the sight of those arriving, he made his way to the back entrance where some of the catering people were. Once inside he could feel the presence hit him like a bag of stones. It's here...

"Hey slow down now." Ray said "The party is just getting started." The red head was all over him kissing him there and here and Ray letting her do whatever she wanted.
"Resistance is futile." she whispered.
"Hahahaha you got that right." She continued to kiss him, hard and quicker, almost making Ray feel just a little uncomfortable.
"Slow down, I am the man here remember?" he teased. As she lifted her head, he could have sworn he saw her eyes flicker a dark shade of red.
"That will be your demise fool." With incredible strength she lifted him off his feet and threw across the room against the far wall.
"Jesus, wha the hell are you trying to do!?!" Ray yelled. "Kill me?!"
"That's the idea." she said. Her voice, Ray thought, had grown lower then before. "You like what you see?" she asked mockingly, "well what about now?" Her fingernails start to grow longer, here hair turning gray and her teeth growing almost 6 inches from here mouth. Hunching over, Ray could make out paws that were replacing her feet and hands and her fingernails had turned into claws.
"Come to me..." she beckons. Before he can react, she lungesat him, claws out, jaws open.
