Okay - a bit of trivia now, and I might even stump some of you loremasters.
What D&D novel (not neccessarily FR, but one of the 'big' settings) had a miniature TARDIS, Dr. Who, and K-9 hidden on the cover?  |

Thought it was a novel, sorry - I am completely unfamiliar with Dragonlance stuff. I just remember reading that when I was looking for cool artwork to turn into avatars on the WotC site.
A lot of really good art came out of Dragonlance.
Anyway, that actually gives us a canon connection, in a weird, round-about sort of way. We know Elminster knew of Krynn through Raistlin (although I don't know if he ever went there), and obviously the good Doctor visited Krynn, and given the 2e supplement Chronomancer deals with the timestream, and THE Chronomancer was an Archmage of Netheril, it would make perfect sense for Dr. Who to visit Toril, since he does indeed exist in the D&D universe.
Convoluted? Yes! Fun to think about? Definately. |

This is the best I could find on the Net.
There's a much better version (clean painting, without the cover-stuff) in the World's of TSR book Sage mentioned. The 'DR. Who stuff' is on that ledge in the middle, I believe (I had to blow the picture up tremendously before I was able to identify them).
I was looking at old D&D art, trying to find a 'better' pic for the new FRCG cover, back when they still had the 'Drizzt' placeholder one showing. I almost used that cover (from Dragons of Desolation), but chose to use a different one showing a flying fortress/city instead. I was looking for something that said "Earthmote", and the Draconians (Dragonborn) along the bottom was just a plus. Here's what I came up with if anyone's interested (its been about a year since I did that).

| The cover of Dragons of Desolation was the one I was thinking of with the flying citadel -- but it's not the pic I was thinking of that had the dragon's horde with all the modern items in it. |

I stick with 1024x768, but any size larger than that is fine, so long as the 4x3 ratio is preserved. I often save larger pics and make a resized copy, so that if I decide to go bigger, I can.
I've never seen a version of that pic large enough to serve as a wallpaper, and I've not got the PhotoShop skills to blow up a pic and keep it looking good. |

The files I have on my computer are 1024x 768. 
I've had problems with Photobucket reducing file sizes on me before - let me put them up at DeviantART.
I didn't want to do that, becaue I only want to keep Maps there, but I guess I can keep them there for a month or so.
Edit: Have them up at DeviantART now, try these and let me know if the size is correct -
Double-Edit: Gah!!! Thats worse - DeviantART went as far as changing the file-type to jpg!
Wooly - send me your E-Mail and I'll send it off.
I wish we could host Wallpapers here, but unfortunately we don't have the rights to any of the art. 
Now that I know I'm having this problem, I just realized ALL my files are being reduced, and the two Kara-Tur ones uploaded last night were turned into jpgs. I'm going to have start mailing Alaundo any finished maps directly - I had no idea people were using lower resolution versions.
Funny how a whimsical thread like this lead to an important discovery for me.
Didn't mean to hijack this thread, but I have one more question - Wooly (or anyone else who knows Comp-tech), what is the best file type to use (for resolution)? I read on the Net it was bmp, but we all know about 'the truth' and the Internet. |

I've always used jpg as well, but people have been asking me a lot lately for higher resolution, and I looked it up and several sites recomend bmp (or png, which is a compromise beteen the other two).
I'll tell you this much - bmp's take FOREVER to upload. |

Actually, we're not. We're about 3-6 months behind the Brits (on Sci-Fi channel anyway). Sci-fi just finished up Series Four of the good Doctor here, so we have the Xmas special and the other five episodes they are discussing in the article.
I believe Sage is the one that's farthest behind down under. They just finished up Series 4 about a month or two ago. |

Anyways, to keep this scroll somewhat tied to the Realms, which female/male NPCs do you think would make worthwhile comparisons to some of the Doctor's more famous companions?

I'm not really all that familiar with his earlier incarnations - I lost track of the series for some thirty years.
Aside from the two latest ones, I am only familiar with the 'Tom Baker' version of the Doctor (I just had to Google that to find his name, and I got a nice set of pics showing all the Doctors - why does he keep getting younger?!) |

Out of the blue, I suddenly recalled the name of the painting I was thinking of -- "Allegory". My search-fu revealed that it was the cover of Dragon 98. And then further search-fu lead me to a website with the pic:

The Mountain Dew bottle in there is great... I love that there's also a fire extinguisher! And I'd not seen one of those cable channel selectors in so long I'd forgotten about them -- my grandparents had one when I was a kid! |
