Hello,

I used to play alot of DnD back in my high school days. I've long since gotten away from it, but have always enjoyed the Forgotten Realms computer RPGs, as I played alot of the FR campaign in my pen and paper heyday.

One aspect has always drawn me in, that being the stories revolving around the goings-on of the gods.

I started with the classic Avatar Trilogy. Still one of my favorite series of books of all time. After that, I picked up the two follow-ons, Crucible and... the other one escapes me. Later, I picked up a series of books relating to the god Finder, and some tie-ins with the then-dead god Bane (Bane, Bhaal, and Myrkul were always favs of mine).

I have been way out of touch with any related series since then. I am interested in reading about the continuing saga of Bane. I know that his son, Iyactu Xvim (sp?) took over his portfolios, but then Bane managed to come back, out of the inside of Xvim, as I understand it. Is this something that was just pieced into a source book, or are there related novels?

I was hoping someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. Furthermore, any assistance regarding other books that relate to the gods of Faerun would be welcome.

Thanks in advance.

There isn't a novel featuring Bane's return. And it's been asked for repeatedly. WotC keeps telling Ed, and others, no.

The FRCS and F&P [and a few tidbits in Cloak & Dagger] references are the only sources we have on this. They gave us small notes saying that on this one particular night [Midwinter night of 1372 DR], all worshippers of Iyachtu Xvim had a dream where they saw him split apart and Bane emerge from within.

Oh, and there's some brief mentions in Grand History of the Realms as well.

yeah, I read a bunch of stuff online, but it all quoted the same 2 or 3 paragraphs about Xvim taking over for Bane, but then Bane coming back and "bursting out" of him.

Ah well, maybe one of these days they will come out with something. In the meantime, I guess I'll have to be satisfied with that.

I've theorized that Bane is still dead, and that Xvim's apparent demise was a ploy to get more of Bane's worshippers, and to draw on Bane's reputation.
