First off, if this is in the wrong forum or breaches any rules of any sort then I apologise in advance to the mods. Please redirect it to where it should be. I'm still finding my way around - it's a big place is Candlekeep and it's easy to get lost, especially if you're an idiot like me.

I'm heading down to London for a few days at the end of the week for my once a decade trip to the big city. I'm hoping one of my fellow scribes is able to furnish me with the name and address of a shop where I might find a good selection of second hand FR books, thingamies and whatnots.

Time will be at a premium, unfortunately, so I'm mainly looking for somewhere in central or north London that can be easily reached from Tavistock square / Euston station area of town. While i'm not adverse to a bit of a hike into the wilds of London it would have to be to somewhere pretty special. Also, please bare in mind I know my way around Baldur's gate far better than I know my way around London!

I'm really going down to see the Hadrian exhibition at the British Museum. I would say it's probably the measure of the man that I'm looking forward to the possibility of expanding my FR collection as much as i am looking forward to seeing the wonders of the ancient world!

My thanks to any helpful souls in advance.

I cannot really help you on the second hand items - the only stores that I am aware of that carry FR are the Orcs' Nest, which is located on Earlham Street, between Leicester Square and Tottenham Court tube stations, and the Forbidden Planet on nearby Shaftesbury Avenue (visible on the roadmap of the Orcs' Nest). None of them carry second hand items.

I don't know what you are looking for in second hand FR. I've got some 2nd edition stuff that I am trying to sell, but I'm not in London this and the next week.

Nothing in particular; Ebay usually does me pretty well, as does the games shop here in Glasgow that often has great second hand stuff. I thought I might see what London, with it's size, might have.
Thanks for your reply!

Actually Orcs' Nest does have second-hand (or at least reduced) items. Or they did. I've never seen any D&D items in that section but I have picked up several D20-system supplements and accessories which have been useful.

I've been in Forbidden Planet at least once a week for the past 4 years or so, and I must have stepped out of your way to let you reach Stormwrack or Shadowdale or something at least once. Hi!

Anyway, my first source for cheap D&D goodies is always eBay, and failing that www.rpgnow.com (if you don't mind only having it as a .pdf)

You can also look in Playing Games, 33 Museum Street (round the corner from the British Museum) and Leisure Games, 100 Ballards Lane, out in Finchley, but I'm afraid I don't know of a good place for second-hand RPG stuff here.

Thanks for your replies!

Good little list now, thanks. I'm a shameless Ebay addict anyway; spent a fortune on it over the last few months, most recently on the Netheril box set and (my current fave,) the Planescape campaign setting - both of which are pristine and complete with all maps. I guess I'm spoiled because A1 games here in Glasgow has a great - fantastic, in fact - second hand section. it can be a bit pricey but they often have some true gems.

Is that the one that has rooms out the back that you can rent for gaming?

You'd think there'd be more wouldn't you? I've always thought it was pretty poor but I've never been able to find any more than the big 2 (orcs nest & FP).

I have to be honest, I did a little bit, yeah. Never mind though, it's not like that the main focus of my trip; I'm sure the gift shops at the Hadrian and the Francis Bacon exhibitions will drain my bank account just as fast!

Thanks for all your answers. I'll definitely check out the Orc's Nest and Playing Games. Might check out Leisure games as well if I've got the time.

Thanks again, everyone!
