Does anyone know the time periods between the novels in the Cormyr Saga? ("Cormyr: A Novel", "Beyond the High Road" and "Death of the Dragon").
Also, how do you rate each of these novels?

Well, Cormyr is multi-dated, while the actual story takes place in current realmsian time, it often jumps in the past many hundreds of years to the beginning of cormyr up to current, very neat actually. u will get frustrated with all the Court mages over the years and their darn hard to pronounce ******erhast names(ull get it when u read it) specifically the books ranges from -400DR to the actual stories time of 1369 DR. VERY GOOD BOOK
Beyond the High Road and Death of the Dragon take up after each other with little to no time passing between books. BOTH ALSO VERY GOOD BOOKS.

I agree with the books telling a good and nice story on Cormyr. I liked the concept of the seven scourges as the countries past haunting the present.
Yet what I didn't particularly like was the 'invention' of new monsters. Everytime it seems bigger, meaner, just overall more badass monsters are being created in an attempt to 'liven up' the story.
What happened to creativity with excisting monsters. Even if one has several powerful wizards and a large army full of knights. Why not use standard monsters, with perhaps just a little twist.
Especially now in 3e whith the use of templates and an easier way to give monsters 'class' (a character class) authors should be able to put some of those critters often encountered by Player Characters in the spotlight.
...just my 2cp
The Cormyr saga is still a good read though. |

Just this second finished reading Beyond the High Road so thought id better stop by and report back.
Yet again I wrongly judged a book by its cover (or rather "title" in this case) and I thoroughtly enjoyed this novel. Cant wait to get onto Death of the Dragon now  In hindsight, it makes Cormyr: A Novel a lot more outstanding and relevant as much of the history does come back in BtHR. Lots of nice scenes are well written and described. Got to know the princesses a lot better too, especially Tanalasta

The three Novels flow right into each other. I would have a very hard time saying anything bad about these books. Cormyr was very informative. Beyond the High Road and Death of the Dragon had me in there thrall until I finished and some days after. |

I think it's Cor-meer (english)/Corr-mir (swedish /Cor-myr (french), hope one of those helps (and I'd think it real funny if it was the Swedish one. |
There is a rumour going around that I have found god. I think is unlikely because I have enough difficulty finding my keys, and there is empirical evidence that they exist.

If I remember correctly,BtHR and DotD both happen in 1370-71, and in game terms immediately before 3e came out (hence the bigger, badder monsters and not just adding pc levels onto existing creatures). There was a write up in the 2000 Dragon Annual about Cormyr after the death of Azoun, which was written before the FRCS came out for 3e (it also had a Forgotten Realms Primer for 3e.) The article contained many stats for personalities including Vangerdahast, Filfaeril, Glarasteer Rhauligan, Laspeera, Myrmeen Lhal, Dauneth Marliir, etc, in 3e. Vangerdahast was also still the Royal Magician who was taking an interest in a female sorceress (Caladnei). It is worth finding a copy of that article.
