Hi folks!

In the FR Campaign setting as well as in this link Steel Regent Alusair's stats are female human NG Ftr7/Rgr1/Pdk2. However, in the Dragon Article 'After the Dragon' (Dragon annual 2000) she was stated as a female human CG Ftr20.

1. which one is correct?
2. How come this huge difference in her Challanging rate? After all 10 Lvls is not a minor change IMO.
3. Why the Alignment change?
4. And which one does most likely come closer to the truth of her abilities?

I wanted to check out that link, but again I am foiled by the school's blocking system. This censureship is really beginning to annoy me!

The FR Campaign setting is accurate. The Dragon Annual article had several technical/game stat errors in it and IIRC, but more importantly, the FRCS actually reflects her depiction in the novels better. (Also note that in 2E she was listed as a rogue in the Curse of the Azure Bonds game module [not the novel], obviously in response to her rebellious period when she ran away from home.)

As far as I'm concerned, I'd add two levels of ranger (for Combat Style and Endurance -- she's a tough cookie, in battle and in bed), one level of fighter (just 'cause... just for the feat), and give her all five levels of PDK. SHE'S THE IRON MAIDEN FOR CRYIN' OUT LOUD!!!

(PDK's total character level for Alusair's build: 16 --> Ftr8/Rgr3/Pdk5)

Depending on her activities from now on, I would consider, in her future, some of the following options:
- add fighter levels
- add cavalier levels or if impossible due to build/prereqs, research other riding-based classes (Aglarondan Griffonrider adapted to Cormyr's hyppogriffs or regular horses could do...)
- add scout levels (least likely option AFAIC)

Edit: CoV also has a flying mount class methinks... knights of the north related... it would be worth checking if it would be suitable for Alusair.

PDK stands for Purple Dragon Knight - a prestige class (PrC) presented in the Forgotten Realms Campaign setting (FRCS).

Thanks for answering so quickly, Tom. Could you elaborate on the mistakes of that said article a bit more by any chance?
