As far as I know, the only official arcane archers I can think of are Ilsevele Miritar from the Last Mythal serires, and Tsarra from the novel Blackstaff. |

Hey what exactly is an Arcane Archer? Becuase, when I read the title of this post it struck that I had heard that somehwere before, but I don't think I've read either of the books mention by KnightErrantJR. It seems like... is it an elven thing? I just can't remeber where, but I know I have heard that term before. |

An Arcane Archer is a prestige class (that, for instance, is both in the 3.5 DMG and the OGL: Arcane Archer OGL) for characters of (at least some) elven blood that combines archery and arcane magic use. In essence, their arrows become augmented, and they can "attach" spells to arrows fired. This topic was where in canonical Realms stories one might find (elven or half-elven) characters whose techniques clearly mimic those of the rules-based prestige class. |
One usually has far more to fear from the soft-spoken wizard with a blade and well-worn boots than from the boisterous one in the ivory tower. My Tabletop Writing CV. |

Hi all,
Can't think of specific organisations of arcane archers, offhand.
My thoughts would be that 'arcane archery' would be a tradition handed down through the generations of the fighting forces of various elven lands.
In some places (Evermeet, Evereska & many ancient elven realms) there could have been schools along the lines of bladesong schools/guilds or the Drow fighting schools.
In other/smaller realms simply a martial style of mixing magic and archery, both of which are synonymous with the elven way, and taught more informally either by individual mentors, or perhaps by priests of gods like Solonar or Shevarash (whose clergy and followers are experts on all things archery). I have excerpted some passages from (2e) Demihuman Deities that may provide some inspiration, as quoted at: http://www.nj-pbem.com/data/Gods/elvengods/SolonorThelandira.htm http://www.nj-pbem.com/data/Gods/elvengods/Shevarash.htm
For my only arcane archer PC (wood elf), I had her sponsored and trained by the Shevarash’s faithful at the Vault of Unquenched Vengeance (see below).
Excerpted from: http://www.nj-pbem.com/data/Gods/elvengods/SolonorThelandira.htm ...The archers of Moonrise Hill (aka Ssrenshen in Deepingdale) are known for their amazing feats with the bow-such as hitting the eye of a bird in flight a mile away-and the Fair Folk attribute the prowess at archery of the village's in-habitants to the blessings of Solonor and an ancient tradition dating back before the fall of Myth Drannor. In the Year of Old Crowns (-91 DR), the Moonshadows, a company of rangers, fighters, fighter/mages, and even a few wizards known for their skill at archery, were formed to guard the forests of Semberholme and its environs.
Affiliated Orders: Solonor's church is affiliated with a large number of military orders, few of which number more than several score warriors. The Stag Hunters, the Fellowship of the Fleeting Hart, the Wolves of Dawn, the Shadowsheafs, the Knights of the Green Bow, the Keen-eyed Hunters, and the Archer Knights are particularly famous examples of bands of elven rangers, fighters, and/or priests dedicated to serving the Great Archer. Many less renowned bands stalk the shadowed forest paths of Faerun as well, guarding the woodlands, the Fair Folk, and their allies who dwell within.
Excerpted from: http://www.nj-pbem.com/data/Gods/elvengods/Shevarash.htm
Major Centers of Worship: The Vault of Unquenched Vengeance lies beneath a great jet black oak on the outskirts of the Elven Court in the great forest of Cormanthor. This natural cavern is located amidst the roots of the ancient tree and housed the body of Shevarash for a day before his apotheosis. |

Apologies for going off-topic, but I was wondering whether you could direct me to any information on said bladesong schools? Or whatever lore related to bladesingers. I play one myself, but I haven't managed to find much lore on them, only the rules and description of the Prestige Class. If there is an existing topic about it, I'd be grateful if I was directed there. Someone in the know can reply to me in a PM too, I guess this scroll shouldn't be taken too far off its topic. |

Personally, I prefer the using www.d20SRD.org for my 3.5 SRD needs rather than www.systemreferencedocuments.org. |

Return of the Archwizards trilogy mentions the one in Evereska when talking about the city and it's organization, but there really isn't all that much. |
