I am basically starting this scroll to discover whether anybody has made any use of the 'Revision Spotlight' material posted on the WotC every week, in their FR campaigns.

Also what are your generally feelings about the revision topics previewed so far?.

I havent actually read any of the articles yet, nor the ones which appear in Dragon Magazine, but I intend to. Are they worthwhile? I had a quick glance at the one in Dragon this month as it intrigued me with talk of changes to the Barbarian and Ranger classes.

I have actually found the last few quite interesting. The latest one, I think it is the latest one, about the revision to the gnome stats, I actually found quite useful when I was reworking my 'Tinkerer' gnome stats. The ones before that, had some revised fiends I believe, but I haven't used these in a campaign yet, because I am still waiting for my copy of Fiend Folio.

The Dragon magazine articles I find, are the best sources though. I am actually starting to feel, that there might be a 'little' (and I did say a 'little') bit of a justification for the revised material.

Just out of curiosity, who here will be purchasing the new revised core-rulebooks?.

Yeah, why they dont just release it all at the same time, I dunno. They will obviously sell both releases as more PHB's are bound to be sold, and some DMs will also get the MM, some wont. But those fanatics will want all three core rulebooks so will likely buy the gift set! Why delay it?!

You're right.

I guess it's just part of WotC's perverse "We'll-try-to-irritate-and-annoy-as-many-D&D-fans-as-we-can" policy.

IMO they don't know what to put in this section, that's why they give us the table of contents. which are completly useless

You have to use the archive in the Spotlight column zemd, to go back and look over the past revised material that WotC has posted to the site.

The 'Table of Contents' previews are just the latest postings.

I already read it Sage. I should have written " IMO they don't know what to put in this section anymore"
... that's phrase seems strange, but i don't know how to correct it

Actually I have been quite surprised with the gamer reaction towards the revision on the WotC forums. The negative feeling towards the revision seems to be increasing as the core rulebooks are released.

Interesting.

Maybe that will show the Powers That Are over at Wizards that gamers aren't impressed just by a bunch of fancy rules, that we demand more fluffy goodness . . .

. . .

Nah, too much to expect of them.

Maybe the collected sages and scribes here at Candlekeep should draft a petition for We Who Wish to See More Fluff in WotC Gaming Material.

I once made that very same suggestion. Alaundo didn't think it would do any good, though.

I know I remember it. It inspired me to try a similar idea on the WotC D&D forums. Obviously nothing became of it.
