The dubious Green-glob-of-goo spell that has rendered formidable wizards and warriors alike helpless, sticking tightly to the wall, unable to move or breath.
I have seen this spell being used in several novels, lastly by Jarlaxle in Road of the Partriach. However, I have never seen any equivalent in game rules. Have I just missed the spell discribtion or is Bob Salvatore employing means that were never introduced to the game???

Well could be something from the Expanded Psionics Handbook - there is a power which produces the goo.
Don't know if there are any psionics in the book, but might be a slim chance if there is no item mentioned either

That would be it I guess. Sounds very much like it, at least. And as the required spell component is 'a tiny ball of spider silk' it very much fits to drow magic.
