A fine evening to you all.

I've a question pertaining to the settling of Archendale. Even as late as 1356 D.R. (i.e., the beginning year of the original "Grey Box"), was Archendale already cleared of most - if not all - monsters? More specifically: is it possible to encounter Giant Crabs/Crayfish in the multitude of pools scattered within the gorge, or...have various heroic folk long-civilized the area by eliminating the gravest of wild threats, aquatic or otherwise?

(Why, yes, I have been thinking of The Stone Crab Coster.)

Stand with anybody that stands right. Stand with him while he is right and part with him when he goes wrong.

Earth names in the Realms are more common than you may think.

The Dalelands are not quite frontier wilderness regions, but they are by no means anywhere near the tamed lands of Cormyr and Sembia (which still have monster hotspots within their boundaries.

Within the towns i would expect monster incursions to be minor and rare. Outside those settlements you are taking a risk if you are on your own and unable to defend yourself. Not all monsters will seek to slaughter you on sight, but you may need to be wary about stumbling into their home, or putting on a show of force to deter any would be predators.
