Given how it's just about Winter here in the Northern Hemisphere, I figure this would be appropriate.
My ideas: 1) Monk of Kossuth - either the Disciples of the Phoenix (Champions of Valor, the Brothers and Sisters of the Purifying Flame, or Order of the Salamander, depending on alignment - with substitution levels or such to help them deal fire damage.
2) Ranger with Cold subtype as top Favored Enemy
3) Cleric of a deity with the Fire Domain.
4) Druid who focuses on spells that mitigate cold damage and cause fire damage (ex: Flame Strike, Sunfire, etc.)
5) Dragonfire Adept (or as I might rename it, Dragonbreath Adept), Sorcerer, Warlock, Warmage or Wizard with access to breath weapons, spells or invocations that cause fire damage. Spells or invocations that protect against cold are a plus.
A Paladin I'm stretching to find a place for in this. Maybe if there were lots of fiends, undead, or just creatures of evil alignment with the Cold subtype or such. Anything else, I'd leave up to the DM and player.
How about that?

There's a prestige class in Dragon Magazine 283 on p. 84, called Flame Steward. It's intended for Eberron but I could see reskinning it for a paladin of Kossuth. |

Last I knew in 3.5 Edition, Kossuth didn't have Paladins (canonically), at least of the LG/Paladin of Virtue variety. 4th (especially) and/or 5th (just guessing; I don't know ANYTHING about 5th), maybe. |

There's the prestige classes that give similar abilities as the paladin to non-LG warriors. I could see them amongst the 2e mentioned "knights of the Fire Drake" which was the crusading arm of the church. Now whether this works conceptually with a reskinned version of the Flame Steward prestige class from that dragon magazine, no clue.
I would recommend playing with ideas from the Tome of Battle as well. A swordsage with desert wind maneuvers might be useful. Functionally, it might be a better conceptual fit than the monk of Kossuth, and honestly I can see members of those "monastic orders" containing swordsages.
Finally, my favorite is always a gish character of sorts. So, fighter or paladin, wizard, eldritch knight, spellsword isn't specifically built to fight cold, but with spell choice it easily CAN be. If you start throwing in things like reserve feat of fiery burst, then they can start hurling out 5' radius (so 10' diameter) effects with decent damage for free as long as they keep a decently leveled fire spell in memory.
Hell, combining these concepts as well works, with a swordsage/wizard/jade Phoenix Mage. I won't say its my goto, but it fits thematically. |

I don't have the book in front of me. However, according to the wiki, Faiths and Pantheons and the Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide both say that primordials sometimes take on evil paladins. Kossuth is a primordial. Seems reasonable enough to assume he could have at least some evil paladins in his retinue of worshippers and there are rules for evil paladins in Unearthed Arcana.
Side Note: I had a paladin of Tymora in one of my games. He was modeled off of Don Quixote. Because he was completely delusional and did ridiculous things like ride around on a 'war mule,' none of the other paladin gods wanted anything to do with him. However, Tymora found him amusing and, seeing that his intentions were pure, she made him her very first paladin.
Even if it's non-canonical, you can always write a back story for a character that fits it into the world. |

I know I mentioned the idea of paladins as well in the above, with the class variants (misspoke and called them prestige classes). To note, the 3.5e equivalent "class variants" of paladins were still focused on an alignment locked as an extreme that would be effectively two steps from true neutral. THAT might be a reason for his followers to not have "paladins" ..... that doesn't preclude crusaders from Tome of Battle. That also being said, an anti-cold party doesn't have to have "Kossuth" followers. Lathander makes a perfect god as a sun god to oppose a cold deity. A seldarine god might oppose the Queen of Air and Darkness as well, such as Darahl Firecloak (to note, he was LN, so he could have paladins of tyranny as well as regular paladins). This all being said, the rules of steps of alignment may not have applied to non clerics.... that I'd have to look up again. Been forever since I've played 3.5. |

Ooh, Lahander! That's a good idea. I don't know why I didn't think of that. Mental block, I guess. |
