Hey all... I'm considering another project for the DM's Guild and this time it's a look at a new goddess of cold and winter, one who is connected to Auril's deep backstory (operating under the version of the lore where Auril and the Queen of Air and Darkness are, in fact, the same entity).
My idea is that when Aurilandür was corrupted into Auril, her heart was literally replaced by the black diamond. Said heart was hidden away deep in the Plane of Ice, guarded by an entire city of loyal elves. Time passed, the elves first turned evolved into ice genasi and then disappeared, and eventually a powerful archmage discovered the hidden heart. She absorbed it, or it absorbed her, and a new demigoddess, a shard of Aurilandür as she once was, was born.
Still working out the details and ramifications on the Realms (esp. how Actual Auril reacts to her mini-me), but I'm wondering what the sages here think of the basic concept. I was trying to come up with 1) something rooted in the lore and 2) something that wouldn't immediately get stepped on by Auril for trespassing on her domain. What do you all think of it?
