I have an incoming player who wants to play a priest of Hoar to obtain vengeance because his wife joined a cult of Shar, leading to much tragedy. I am certain that I have read a nearly identical plot in a Realms novel or accessory.
Was that the background in The Parched Sea, but with Cyric as the divine villain?

hmmm to add a bit more drama, i would have the PC think that his wife was killed by the cult, only to find that her death was a fake and she is actually a member of the cult... just a though |

The mother of the main Harper character (Lander?)joined Cyric's church, I believe. |

As I recall, The Parched Sea was about stopping the Zhents from establishing a trade route across the Anauroch. But it's been a while since I read it. |
