What is known in canon as of now, about the year of risen elf kin, say the top five most important events for that year. Of particular interest would be any information related to Waterdeep. |

Curses! Another book to add to the BUY IMMEDIATELY LIST. |

Posted - 20 Jun 2006 : 16:29:51 Given that it's the Year of Risen Elfkin and not the Year of Risen Elves, maybe some major half-elf related event is set to occur? |

Posted - 20 Jun 2006 : 13:26:31 I should have stumbled arcoss this warning before flipping through PoF yestereve. I know all about it now!!!
If that does not make it more than obvious what the name of that year is hinting at...

Well, well! Nice guess there! Myth Drannor reclaimed! By the Drow! The thoght does make ssome sence, has the goal of the surface drows to reclaim the old city of song been spelled out more than once in FR books so far. (FRCS, FR Lords of Darkness).
As far as I will go in my campaign: I will re-play the adventure "City of the Spider Queen". There we will have, if the plan should work out, lots of "risen elfkin".

Actually, I think you should read the Last Mythal trilogy since it wasn't reclaimed by drow. :) Or the spoiler paragraph in Power of Faerun. |

Posted - 30 May 2006 : 02:50:22 Besides that the Vhaeraunites were reported to be the closest to reclaiming the city. It is a clear stated goal that the fair elves so far appear unable to or unwilling to prevent.

the reclamation of Myth Drannor?
Successful, elven rule restored and still no talk on how weak the city would be after reclamation. |

Posted - 25 Apr 2006 : 20:17:50 Well, that is news to me. Oops. But thank you for also pointing out where I can find the information - I was really disappointed when there was no apparent follow-up to several references in older 2e products (but I could've sworn that they were talking about it as a future event in 3.5 Shining South - don't have the book here right now, so feel free to correct me). I'll definately be looking into this.
I was really hoping for a dwarven trilogy detailing the event...

Posted - 25 Apr 2006 : 07:14:50 While the name of the year is 'Risen Elfkin,' I would place my bet on some hinted at dwarven material. Specifically, the long awaited gold dwarven exodus from the Great Rift to Deep Shanatar under the Lands of Intrigue. There have been hints about upcoming dwarven material, and the exodus is actually a bit overdo IIRC. Or maybe it'll come in 1376. |

Posted - 24 Apr 2006 : 07:04:54 That's pretty much the same for me as well. If my purchase of the hardcover SoE keeps the doors of my local hobby store open just that bit longer... I'll all for it.

Posted - 24 Apr 2006 : 06:49:38 Well Amazon may be my friend, but my local Hobby Store is practically the only one in Adelaide - si I support it when and how I can. If this one bites the dust, then I won't be getting RPG stuff anywhere but online or interstate.

No worries on that account, Dargoth. All in COS will remain, though the secrets behind closed doors may shift a bit. |

Posted - 22 Apr 2006 : 17:48:23 As far as going with fantasy for "year of risen elf kin" the earyh elements united and reject are Drow from the underdark, because they are a disruptive force. *wink* rising then to the surface of course. This of course would a a RSE and clearly will not occur. |

Thou art sworn to secrecy, boy!
<Khelben thumps George with the reconstituted Scepter of the Sorcerer-Kings, then notices he's being watched, hides it quickly behind his back, and whistles innocently>
PS: No, the Scepter isn't reconstituted.....but wouldn't it be just like Khelben to set up a scenario where everyone thought it was destroyed, just so they'd stop looking for it to claim.......? |
