I was wondering whatever happened to the poor dude after he learned of his lady's demise in the ghazneth wars of Cormyr? Did he appear in Daughter of Elminster? Did he visit Azoun V (his son)? Some say he was at Thunder Peak, drinking up the magic in the wards that will soon set Iamiric free...but those were just rumors. I was just wondering since it was long ago that I read that book.
And poor Tanalasta.....it looks like some stories in FR don't have a very happy ending. |

They don't appear in subsequent products, for several reasons. The first, and most important, is that they aren't designed as adventuring villains, but story villains, with very specific methods of dispatching each one (as was revealed in Death of the Dragon). They are not appropriate for normal use in a campaign, since the average party of player characters can only hope to detain a given ghazneth long enough for the royal "cavalry" to arrive and truly destroy the creature.
The second is that those same creatures were all destroyed by the time an appropriate product would have been created to include them; Death of the Dragon was essentially Cormyr's 3E harbinger, and once 3E came, the ghazneths were gone. Since 2E stats exist for the ghazneths, and 3E stats are somewhat unnecessary, they haven't been included anywhere.
The third reason is a story-based one. Nalavarauthatoryl (Nalavara the Red, the Devil Dragon) was the only being capable of creating the ghazneths, being familiar enough with elven Trees of the Body to corrupt their use and turn traitors to Cormyr into her servants. With the destruction of Nalavara, the only remnant of the process, and of the ghazneths as a force in Cormyr, is Rowen Cormaeril, who remains a ghazneth to this day, having not yet been redeemed.

There are for second edition, they were printed up in Dragon Annual #4.
IIRC only the six other ghazneth but not Rowen were detailed in that issue(from 1999). So it seems you will have to come up with some stats of your own, Zireael. |

I'm another person that keeps wondering about Rowen and his son, Azoun V...
Maybe someone has more ideas? Personally, I think it would be nice to see Rowen again, even if it's only my Realms.
On that note - are there any stats for ghazneth? I'm trying to stat Rowen for my friends at Polish forums... |

-They didn't bend the rules, per se, I don't think. I mean (including lore up until now, spanning 1e to 4e), creatures have existed that could drain magic, could negate magic, and so on. |

But so did the ghazneths... So the question really is, what's more powerful - the spellplague or a ghazneth? (If Troy Denning is writing I'll put my money on the ghazneth, otherwise the Spellplague). |

It'd have been cool if he visited Azoun V. I mean, he is his son after-all....or maybe he went mad from the spell-plague...Does the spellplague have any affect on a ghazneth?
Maybe Rowen mated with somebody...something? |

And considering that there was only one ghazneth left alive... we can't be entirely sure that it actually did survive the Spellplague in any way, shape, or form that we'd recognise.
