I did some searching and nothing came up, but I'm sure these questions had been asked before as they are so interesting. =)

How many floating cities were there?

Is there any lore about flat top mountains in the realms to indicate where the Netherese got their mountains?

Is there any mention in the lore about where these cities fell during Karsus' short lived godhood? I suppose the desert could have swallowed them all up.

I'm guessing that where Karsus' body was in the first book of the Return of the Archwizards series, is where his enclave fell?

I would venture to assume Karsus' enclave was destroyed before reaching the ground by the power that destroyed him. Since most of the enclaves were magical structures tied to their wizard-king I would assume most of the magical protections etc. would have faltered and the destruction of the key figure would destroy the dependent parts.

There's also Negarath, from Erik Scott de Bie's Depths of Madness novel -- part of "The Dungeons" series.

As he notes below:-

"And for that record, that makes +1 fallen Nethese enclave in established/canon lore (and Negarath is a pretty odd one, too). Now, if only we could figure out where it was . . ."

Lost Empires of Faerun has much to say about Netheril and its legacy. Not all of its cities floated over the region which is now known as Anauroch. Some of them plummeted into the sea, one went down between Raumathar and Narfell, and three of them survived and became the nucleus for new empires.

As far as I know, there is no number of all floating cities given, neither in LEoF, nor in Netheril, Empire of Magic (free download at wizzards.com).

Karsus fell from his city when Mystryl died, so it is possible that the Karsestone and his enclave crashed down at different locations.

1. A bunch. I don't know if the number has ever been stated, or if all of them have been listed, but a bunch were described in the other Netheril boxed set (available for free from the Wizards downloads page)

2. I think it was stated that the magical battles between the sharn and the Netherese erased some of these flat tops, though some still survive. I doubt there's anything particularly significant about any of them, save for the one now occupied by an avariel city.

3. I think the landing spot of the three surviving cities can be roughly determined by seeing where the survivor states sprung up... We know of a couple that landed in the Sea of Fallen Stars. One is rumored to be in Firedrake Bay in Tethyr. I've postulated more than once about the idea of an enclave being over one of the undescribed continents, and spawing a survivor state over there... But for the most part, we're in the dark about where the cities fell -- though most were obviously in Netheril's borders.

4. I don't think the location of Karsus's enclave has ever been noted...

I could be wrong on some of these. I'm going entirely from memory.

If I remember Karse stands where Karsus's body fell, not his enclave. Remember he was a god for the fraction of a heartbeat.

As for the cities, they fell, from great height, I doubt anyone survived that fall to tell the tale as to where the cities connected with the ground
