First of all one of the players in my campaign is playing an elf. This elf recently discovered that he has Vyshaan heritage. Did the Vyshaan ever bind with demons like House Floshin and others? Or did they stick to their elven heritage?

Second question, what is known about the Endless Ice Sea? I know about a supposed realm of humans called Gilthwit, as well as an ancient giant city.

Certainly it's canon, Markustay; the two seas do connect (source: Ed Greenwood), but, as you say, don't expect open-water sailing for ships. The Endless Ice Sea has a permanent ice "cap" hundreds of feet thick, unless magic has been used in a particular locale to blast or melt it.

I guess great minds think alike.

I was just going by common sense and my knowledge of geography.

IMO, the Endless Ice Sea connects to the Great Ice Sea (Yal Tengri) somewhere at the northpole. That's not canon, but if you look at the maps it kind of makes sense. That doesn't mean you can easily sail through there to get to Winterkeep - Thats like the old exploreres who used to get frozen in the water while venturing in the arctic. Your ship will most likely be destroyed by Icebergs, or you will become 'landlocked' and die frozen in place.

In fact... finding an ancient ship and its frozen crew gives me an adventure idea....
