In Cormanthyr: Empire of the Elves, it discusses Elven time keeping. They keep track according to the ruling periods of their kings and queens. They call each period a Rysar. So each elven realm has it's own dating system.

Is this still true in the present date of Forgotten Realms?

Anyone know where it is mentioned as to the current date?

I'm planning on reading through the Myth Drannor box set, but really need this information soon.

_Elves of Evermeet_ offers a clue about when Zoar was King, though not date certain.

It offered the Queen has ruled Evermeet for over 200 years, the last four decades by herself after Zoar was killed. That places the start of rule by both at about 1161 DR. The number of course is only about because one reference says over 200 years, also there is another passage that states 45 years for a sole ruler.

Why seek it elsewhere? We host that file here: A Grand History of the Realms

Way ahead of you.

Last mention of a Rysar:

quote:

661 DR (Year of the Bloody Tusk)
Eltargrim's Passing: The Coronal Eltargrim, at
dawn on the last day of Midsummer festivals, passes on to
Arvandor, leaving only the Ar'Cor'Kerym, his Ruler's Elfblade,
hovering in mid-air atop the Rule Tower. Aravae Irithyl, his
niece and heir, proclaims a city-wide period of mourning for the
next five years. Thus ends the Sixth Rysar of Cormanthyr after
866 years. [TSR9558]

Kuje, I meant the current "elven" date. =) I'd have to be pretty dense to not know the DR year. =)

I was reading the Elves of Evermeet, and it said that the Queen had been ruling for 200 years as of its publishing. I suppose they meant 200 years, by the side of King Zoar.

King Zoar was murdered in 1321 DR.
I can't find when he was crowned King in the Grand History. Though way back in -9800 DR, the Aryvandaar clan (since been destroyed ending the 5th crown war in -9000 DR) was colonizing Evermeet. Evermeet didn't become a realm of its own, until Zoar was kinged thousands of years later? odd.

That's what I was thinking.

And to answer the current date: it's currently 1375 but some material is still being set in the past.
