I have a map question.
There is a tiny little patch of woods just to the west of the Fallen lands, and directly east of the high forest across the Delimbyr.
I have checked EVERY conceivable map I own, 1e, 2e, 3e, and regional. Its not named on either 'The North' map or the 'Silver Marches' map, and it's just off the edge of the maps of the Heartlands and the one that came with Anauroch.
I'm working on my own version of the Silver Marches map since so many people have been requesting one and Wizards hasn't seen fit to put one on their site, and I'm going to make it available for download myself (which I assume should be Okay).
I'm REAL anal-retentive when it comes to completeness, and I found the names for all the other little forests. Also, there are the words 'Night Gap' near the forest on the Silver Marches map, with NO explanation anywhere on what that is. Could it possibly be a name for this tiny patch of woods, or is it at least somehow related?
I don't own the FR Interactive Atlas unfortunately, so if anybody has that maybe they could check it for me?
Otherwise I'm just gonna name it "The Nameless Woods" and be done with it. |

Thanks for that. 
I've had that product since it first came out, and I've never so much as cracked the covers. I had always thought it was just about the Great Rift region, guess it's time I start reading.
I adjusted the map so that the little piece is connected back to the High Forest the way it should be, with the river flowing through the woods at that point.
Now all I need to know is if 'Night Gap' (from the SM map) is the same as the 'High Gap' (from 'The North' map)?
Added the map key and compass rose tonight, so I should have this up tomorrow if anyone's interested.

the confluence of the Delimibyr and the Heartsblood, a place known as KARSCRAGG to the dwarves. There of old, two leaping stone bridges spanned the Delimibyr, and the realm of the dwarves crossed the river with them, to command the western shore as far as trees edge, past the Shining Mountain to Dahaurock.

Okay, so we've come to the conclusion that it probably was originally intended to be a little piece of the High forest across the river, that has gotten 'further away' from it's 'parent' with each new iteration of the map.
What about the Night-Gap/High Gap thing? Are they one and the same?
Also, I don't have the interactive atlas, so what the heck is Karskragg?
Anyone? |

My mistake, sorry. The name of the river is written in blue and some of the letters are is superimposed directly over shadows at the base of tree symbols, which are a similar shade of blue. So it's not easy to read. It is "Heartblood." |

Interestingly, it's simply not there on the Netheril maps dated 1491 NY - but then that still allows a few thousand years for it to have grown.
Perhaps the Terraseer just missed it.
Not much help I admit. |

This is what I always thought also, but given that its not just the river seperating this little piece, but just over 20 miles of flat land,it appears to be it's own seperate entity. |

Looking through my various sourcebooks, I am of the opinion that it is meant to be part of the High Forest (even though the Delimbyr River cuts through it, and a couple of sourecebooks quote the river being the eastern and southern borders of the High Forest).
If it is meant to be its own forest, then it would be best to ask Ed for advice. |

Checked the Atlas, on the larger map it shows the little forest, but on the smaller one, the High forest is set right up against the Greypeaks, with just the river flowing between them, so no help there. |

Seems like the South Wood (south of Loudwater) is too far south. I see it too, it's north of the Shining Falls on the map in the Savage Frontier accessory. It's west of where the Delimbiyr and the Heartblood rivers converge. I always figured it's just a piece of the High Forest, though it seems substantial and separate enough to warrant it's own name and certainly it's own history and sites of interest. Could be a good question for Ed.
I'm also surprised it has survived the illustration process through so many maps, even the 3e ones that tend to cut out a lot of minor features like this. |

that still does not name the forest??? I looked through all of my sourcebooks, which is just about all of them, and could not find a name. the only mention in dwarves deep on page 52 is southwood, which I believe is a bit south of what the poster is asking. I think we need the atlas to see if a name exists for this little wood. |

Well, thank you for that. It actually raises more questions though. Since that river is called the 'Heartblood' river on The North map, and it flows right past Karse, which seems to tie it into the name Karskragg somehow.
Still no info on the words 'Night Gap' though? It may be a newer name for the old 'High Gap' between the Greypeaks, because it is in the right area.

It's not named on FRIA, although right next to it at the fork of the Delimbyr and Hearthlord Rivers the map says "Karskragg." |
