I'm trying to pinpoint the location of the Lathanderite enclave in Myth Drannor - the description in Ruins of Myth Drannor doesn't seem to say.

But I just wanted to thank you for the Dawnspire location. I had no idea where that was located.

They might not have had the room to include such a map, or they felt it was better to leave things up to the DM -- 2E (and 1E before it) were very big on leaving room for DMs to play, whereas 3E went the other way.

Because in my haste I read the date you gave, but not the page number. I got to page 14, then got called away from my desk. Thanks, though.

Edit: Aha! And I read your response BEFORE you added the page number...

Not sure how you couldn't find it since I told you were to find it. Page 15 in the 2004 thread.....

Here's what we have to work with, from page 107 of Dragon 208 ('twas a Sage Advice question):

quote:
TSR's Karen Boomgarden and I also spent a great deal of time poring over the book and the Myth Drannor maps trying to find the answer to this one. (The floor in Karen's cubical is just about large enough to accommodate all the maps at once. An onlooker would have had a grand time watching the two of us trying to study the maps without soiling or tearing them with our shoes.) Karen and I suggest placing the temple in the Westfields
area, just south of the Burial Glen (see the Campaign Guide to Myth Drannor, page 15.)

Keep in mind that the Dawnspire isn't just a temple -- it's more of a small enclave, complete with farming areas inside its walls. There is simply no way, without tossing out a chunk of canon, to assume that the temple destroyed by the fey'ri was, in fact, the Dawnspire. It's far easier to assume, as Sage mentioned, that a newer (and obviously smaller) temple had been built within Myth Drannor proper. Besides, as Lathander is a god of rebirth and renewal, and that's why he had people there, it makes sense for them to eventually move into the city.

And with regard to the apparent location inconsistency between the Dawnspire's details in "Last Mythal" and RoMD... I've sometimes felt that there is an "easy way around it" (which Wooly put me onto, as I recall) between what we're told in the "Last Mythal" and what's in RoMD -- since the novel tells us about the temple's destruction (though it's said to be located within Myth Drannor) and the description of the Dawnspire in RoMD, which clearly places it outside of Myth Drannor.

One could suggest that whatever priests of the clergy for the Dawnspire remained, after what we're told in RoMD, decided to shift parts of the temple into Myth Drannor itself.

It's outside of the city. Me and Wooly discussed this in 2004. See the discussion around March 25th in the 2004 thread. It's on page 15 of the 2004 thread. :)
