Posted - 01 Oct 2006 : 04:08:40 I seem to recall reading somewhere that somebody from Scardale is called a Scarran, but I can not, for the life of me, find that again. Did I just imagine that or is that written somewhere?
Also, is there a list somewhere of what people from certain places in the realms are called. The most common list I've seen is the Zhent, Zhentarim, Zhentilar etc... list, but I was wondering if there was a list of compiled names like that.
Thanks much. |

With regards to the Dales themselves, ISTR that there are several references like this in the text of Volo's Guide to the Dalelands (available for download at the Wizards site),
And that site, is, of course, the Wizards downloads page.
(I'd not posted that link for several days. I kinda missed it. |

With regards to the Dales themselves, ISTR that there are several references like this in the text of Volo's Guide to the Dalelands (available for download at the Wizards site), referring to residents of a goodly few Dales by names in this style - usually in the first few paragraphs of the introduction of the particular Dale.
For however much this helps.... |

There is no "one complete and total source" unfortunately. The listing KEJR refers to above is a decent start, but there are plenty of regional and urban locations in the Realms that simply haven't been covered.
You'll find that most tomes, sourcebooks, and novels usually mention a few of the other regional/cultural titles, not listed in FRA, from time to time, and there are usually variations (as the listing in FRA indicates), reflecting alternate cultural tastes, fashions, and beliefs at play within the particular locale detailed.

Posted - 01 Oct 2006 : 04:31:56 The Forgotten Realms Adventures book had a list of these just before the cities listing (one of the most useful group of city descriptions I have ever seen, BTW . . . wish we could get a 3.5 version of the cities listed in this same manner). |
