*nods* Indeed and I know this. The only reason I mentioned that for some elves they may mot have heard about the Return yet (which is with the Tree of Life) and still might be debating on when to go on the Retreat (Elves have a long time to live and thus can take hundreds of years to come to a descion). Also there wa in Ask Rich Baker thread over at the broards not to be named where it was proposed that some are still working on the Retreat, despite others making the Return , IIRC it was not a coment by Mr. Baker but not one I say denied by him either. (I pulled fom a google search and do not even recall the time stamp. It appears to be the opinions of at least some that even in current time (within 5 years game time) that some elves at least still seek to travel to Evermeet under the call of the Retreat. *wink* |

Any clan leadership can name a non elf as an elf-friend to their clan. They can then sponsor the elf friend to other clans with reasons why. To reach Evermeet Amlaruil or other high noble would indeed endorse the sponsorship as valid. To become an Elf Friend one must be some kind of hero for Elvenkind. Defender of Elves is one way, providing aid for the Elven way of life (in BD&D finding and giving an Elven relic might have been one way). In the end Amlaruil would have the final say on if a non elf was an elf friend. The Queen has the final say for the Evermeet clan.quote:

Did a little looking at the Reteat ending or not, it might still be going on, despite some chosing to return to the mainland. In the end when the Tree of Life is planted I suspect the Retreat to Evermeet will end, with many going to the new Elven realm. Buy passage, of course you can not do that unless you find another betraying elf on Evermeet, on its ships or amoung its agents. Gold might move elves to do wromg things, but I would advise polymorphing human into an elf to avoid problems with Evermeet *wink* besides friend will live much longer that way. |

Evermeet has/had agents on the mainland to aid the retreat. There are also portals if one knows how to find them. It is said the retreat is over and ships no longer come to collect those that answer the call of retreat so late (Of course it depends on what time you are playing as to Retreat status or can house rule Retreat is still occuring).
Conditions appear to be a member of the fair folk (i.e. non Drow). Some lore sudjests that an oath of loyality is also required. Perhaps there also might be required a good repertation and an explaination of why it took so long to heed the call (of course this also depends on time period you are considering).
A human on the Island, this is posible but unlikely. A human would need to be named Elf Friend before allowed to step foot on the Island (a rare occasion might allow an non Elf friend to visit for a short time).
