I was just reading the info on The Ring of Winter and had a few questions. Under the history it tells us Dhalmuss Rayburton found it a millenia ago and then in 1363DR Artus Cimber found it and then shortly after left with Lord Rayburton's daughter, Alisanda. So, who was immortal, Lord Rayburton and he just had his daughter late, or was Alisanda in possession of the ring for a time? Secondly, am I mistaken in saying that the ring had some part to play in the most recent attacks by Zhenghy in Dalmara and Bloodstone Lands? Can someone shed some light here?

Thanks Wooly, so what did Zhenghyi use, just his own abilities?

I'm actually not familiar with what Zhengyi did; so I have to assume he used his own abilities.

Thanks Wooly, so what did Zhenghyi use, just his own abilities? And I was actually referring to the Guide to all Thing's Magical's write-up; that's where I got the history. Thanks to you both.

It's all detailed in the old Harpers novel, Ring of Winter. Highlight the text below if you want spoilers.

Dhalmas Rayburton found the Ring of Winter. After he accidentally froze a Cormyrian village solid, he headed for Chult. There he became one of Ubtao's seven barae, immortal champions of the deity who receive a unique power from Ubtao. The daughter he later had, Alisanda, also became one of Ubtao's barae. Later, Artus Cimber came to Chult, and managed to find the Ring of Winter. So far as we know, other than a brief return trip to Suzail, Artus has remained in Mezro, with Alisanda.

And nope, the Ring of Winter hasn't had anything to do with the activities in the Bloodstone Lands.
