I'm in the planning stages for a campaign set in the western Moonsea region, and was wondering if anyone could recommend any FR novels set in that area?

Thanks!

Yep, but it just made us want more!

Evro, I do believe that WotC is publishing a Moonsea accessory called Mysteries of the Moonsea as one of the two regional sourcebooks for this year.

Here's a link to the cover art (me thinks) http://www.wocillo.com/moonsea.htm that I lifted from another thread here in Candlekeep.

Now, if WotC would just release a new and updated Bloodstone Lands supplement or a Sembia sourcebook... I'd be a happy rogue...

Is it just me, or do other people hear that Star Wars theme (don't know the name, but it has the Imperial troops marching) when they see this image?

--Eric

Actually, it reminds me more of Vader's and the Clone Troopers march on the Jedi Temple in Revenge of the Sith (which is actually the music I hear when I look at this image).

Manshoon's 501st perhaps?

Hey, speaking of that . . . do you have anything to do with the Impiltur article coming up in Dragon?

Yes, I agree to this, too! The zhentarim soldiers have a "stormtrooper efect", everytime that they appear against my players.

I absolutely agree. There is something about the Zhentarim, and Banites in general that screams Imperial March!

Thanks a ton for the response guys. I had hit the region well with Moonsea(aka the Loaf Warrior), Ruins of ZK, Dalelands and Heartland Adventures, but I always like to see what's in the novels for a particular region as well. :)
The Sage Posted - 19 Dec 2005 : 05:53:06
The particular sourcebook dealt only with Thar. There was some basic tidbits about the Moonsea in general, but not anything we haven't learnt elsewhere...
scererar Posted - 19 Dec 2005 : 04:09:08
Wasn't there also something covered in elminster's ecologies about the moonsea reagion, or did that particular section deal mainly with thar? My old 2E boxed sets are put away for safe keeping, but I think i will need to pull them back out. Also I am almost positive it is a FR crime to hide away all that lore
Kajehase Posted - 19 Dec 2005 : 01:51:18
Well, there's also a glimpse of the area in Richard Lee Byers' short story in Realms of the Dragons.

Book 2 of the Year of Risen of Elfkin Trilogy

Nitpicker's Note: It's called The Last Mythal Trilogy
Chosen of Bane Posted - 18 Dec 2005 : 23:26:05
Some of the Avatar Series takes place in Zhentil Keep and the Spellfire series features both Zhentil Keep and Citadel of the Raven (which is not really Moonsea but it's Zhent so it's close enough).

As others have mentioned...
Hillsfar is seen briefly in...
- Farthest Reach (Last Mythal Series)
- Heirs of Prophecy (Sembia Series)

Year of the Rogue Dragons (both books) have some Moonsea action

And as others have mentioned the Pools of...Series.

I think that's all of them.

Pool o Radiance
Pools of Darkness
Pool of Twilight
The Year of Rogue Dragon trilogy
Book 2 of the Year of Risen of Elfkin Trilogy

There are several short stories in the "Realms of X" books including one covering the events where Manshoon over throws the Noble Lords council in Zhentil Keep in Realms of Infamy

That's the one with the two guys in the bar fight on the cover.

Loaf of Wounding in action!

Steven
Who still snickers at the thought of that cover, a guy stabbing the other with a loaf of bread.....

Kuje: There was a fourth Pools novel? I thought Heroes of Phlan was just a trilogy...

Nope, there was a fourth based on the puter game and the module and that novel was written by Carrie Bebris.
The Sage Posted - 18 Dec 2005 : 05:25:06
I suppose... But the "Complete-FR-Freak" inside me beckons me to re-read/play these books/supplements/game that we are trying to forget.

And why do I suddenly feel like Century?

The second Rogue Dragon book drops by the region.
... and its a fun read too!

Baker's second Mythal book drops by Hillsfar.
Kuje Posted - 17 Dec 2005 : 21:20:16
The Pools of novels except for the 4th one because they are set in and around Phlan. Some of the Spellfire trilogy takes place in Zhent Keep, etc. I can't think of many others....
