Posted - 22 Nov 2005 : 02:34:15 Does anyone think some of the monks that were in the Edificant Library that worshipped Deneir had the Carmendine Monk feat? Or am I wrong in assuming that Danica wasn't the only monk in the Library? If not, does anyone know where a monastery of this order might be stationed? |

Posted - 26 Nov 2005 : 04:41:01 Well, that's kind of the point .
Some of the "one-line" mentions for the various orders affiliated with the deities in F&A were mainly left open for DMs to create material on their own.

Posted - 26 Nov 2005 : 03:25:48 Hmmmm...isn't that much different from what is provided in CoV, so it doesn't really help me. But thanks for being helpful guys. At least I know now that I'll have to go off of what I have instead of trying to search old books. |

Additionally, the reference in the FRCS just lists them as an order that is affiliated with Deneir. Other than that, there really isn't a lot more about the Zealots. It's just another aspect that was left to DMs to flesh out for their own campaigns.

"..and the Zealots of the written word (ussually just called "zealots" or Carmendines, after their founder), an adventuring order that accompanies priests of the faith on holy quests and pursue money making efforts for the church" |

I don't know where the Zealots of the Written Order might be located, and I can find no clue as to any lore that might detail such.
See the FRCS and the 2e Faiths & Avatars.
Are you telling me to CHECK those sources, or are you telling me that they ARE there and I should refer to them? If they definately are, can you give me the page number as to where I might find something about the in the FRCS(as a 2E source, I've no access to Faiths & Avatars)? |

Posted - 24 Nov 2005 : 19:23:13 It has been a while since I read the quintet, but I always had the impression that Danica's monk training was 'imported' i.e. her teacher being from elsewhere and not perse a follower of Deneir... |

Posted - 24 Nov 2005 : 07:08:06 Yeah, I read the entire Cleric Quintet set(a finer work collectively than many of Salvatore's Drizzt centered books IMHO BTW), so that is why I am speaking in past tense...(Spoilers)
...because of what happened to all of them. Cadderly and the group made cameo appearances in some of Salvatore's later Drizzt books, but I don't really remember anything about how many people the Spirit Soaring had attracted, or if any at all besides the main characters and the kids. I don't know where the Zealots of the Written Order might be located, and I can find no clue as to any lore that might detail such. But I know that if Danica hadn't been the only monk in the Edificant Library, than there is a good chance that the other monk(s) would have followed Deneir.

Posted - 22 Nov 2005 : 03:39:34 Well, the Edificant Library was pretty big and diversified, but the down side to all of that is that with the exception of a handful of people . . . (Spoilers)
Most of the people that were at the Library either ended up as bloodsuckers or a rather less intellectual then they once were. So I guess a more pertinent question might be if the Spirit Soaring has attracted monks. |
