Is he really all that powerful, or does he just have access to impressive items? He seems to rely heavily on devices, and doesn't appear to be all that competent, though in Cormyr: A Novel, he does deal well with politics. In RoA, he is portrayed as an arrogant bumbler, too sure of his own knowledge and powers to see beyond his assumptions. |

Here is a pretty decent compilation of material on Vangie.

Add it to the long list of things that were disappointing regarding that trilogy. For those interested in Vangey, pick up Elminster's Daughter. Some major developments occur for this character within the novel. |

Hmm, the heroes lorebook depicts him as a 17 lvl wizard (2ed) and he was an adventuring youth during the rule of Azouns grandfather. Who's son appointed him as a teacher of history, and things conserning magic and rulership, to Azoun. In the descripton he wears rather "normal" stuff, +3 dagger, ring of protection +3 etc the only notable is the ring of multiple wishes.(this he always wears at court.) It also says that he has access to almost any magical mundane item.
hoped it hepled to clear some things up |
