Fellow Sages,
I come to you feeling quite stupid because my mind is going blank and my searches are turning up nothing. In Chessenta there are the mountains called the Akanapeaks, the lake Akanamere, the river Akax, the city Akanax and the feritle land of the Akanal ... who or what was Aka/Akana? Is it just the Turami word for land/nation? Do we know? |

Thanks Dalor and George, one of my hypotheses is "historical figure" too but I was not coming up with any detail.
Off to look if there is any interesting lineage of black dragons around (except the obvious one in Cormyr ...). If the ones revolting were the Turami with no input from Unther or Jhaamdath (the Imaskari didn't come in this region too much, if I remember right) then it must have been quite a while back. |

In my Realms, the original lands of Chessenta, Threskel, etc were ruled by a black dragon which enslaved the indigenous Turami population. The humans eventually revolted against the wyrm's rule led by a warrior named Akan. The lands around and other features were later named after him in his honor.

I have no way of "knowing" the answer; but always thought it was some mighty figure in the history of Chessenta...likely to do with Akanax the City-State.
Now you got me wondering about the "land" or "landmark" thing... |
