Posted - 05 Dec 2017 : 00:09:29 Hi again, I have a curiosity about the Deathstaff because in the Grand History of Realms , they are referred as multiple ones.
546 DR Year of the Rusted Sabre The Halruaan wizard Gulkuluster begins creating a series of powerful wands that bear his name and are known as Deathstaffs.
However in other entries it's referred to there being only one. It's considered a major artifact soo why the change? Also...would be other Deathstaffs indentical to the one we know about...or different?
What do you think? As usual thanks a lot in advance for your support. |

So, to confirm, there is only one, but there were typo's on the timeline, and the idea given is a way to resolve that inconsistency?
Best regards,

Maybe make a minor name change - have the lesser, multiple items called 'Deathstaves', and just have the singular, greater artifact be the Deathsaff. (so different things altogether).

The original was a wand and is detailed in Ed's Wyrms of the North article in Dragon #246 (Malaeragoth). It was changed to an artifact and a staff in the Shining South accessory (3E). Markustay's suggestion is a good one. The artifact was Gulkuluster's original crafting while the others were crafted by his apprentices and descendants.
