I have never seen anything listed before but does anyone know or seen a list of the Noble Families for the city of Silverymoon?

Yeah, that makes sense. I found that the FR Wiki lists the city as having a constitutional magocratic republic as the form of the government for the city, but I couldn't find any cited sources, or find that anywhere myself.

I'd say it's prolly much like any government that has a ruling council of some sort with a single person on top: responsibilities are split between council and ruler; the ruler is the single voice of leadership when needed, but the council can overrule and even replace that ruler, if needs be, following a defined procedure.
At least, that's what makes sense to me. I've never really looked into it, for Silverymoon. |

Ahh, great catch! Thank you for that. That makes a lot of sense now when taking into account previous leaders having been disposed of due to corruption, etc.
Out of curiosity, do you know if there are any sources that discuss how the government functions in greater detail? I know there is a council of other national leaders that have come together under Alustriel, but that seems like a council that discusses with a final arbiter, and most are not mages/wizards from that group. The city of Silverymoon is overseen by a High Mage, but that seems to conflict with the sort of government that was being aimed for.

There is no contradiction. Nobles in Silverymoon and nobles of Silverymoon are not the same thing.
The part I quoted says "Many nobles from elsewhere visit Silverymoon" -- so those are their homes. These are people who have titles of nobility in Waterdeep or Cormyr or wherever, but in Silverymoon, they hold no titles. |

That certainly is interesting, particularly because Ed said that there are nobles in Silverymoon, by his own pen, in a published book of the Realms, Volo's Guide to the North, p173, under "Landmarks."

Ed said that Silverymoon doesn't have nobles. I referenced that in my post (one of my earliest ones here!), which is right before yours. And I myself will always defer to the setting's creator, before anyone else.

I have checked even more recent documents and materials that might have expanded upon this. However, the only thing I can offer is that the noble houses that do exist, exist on the eastern side of the city, but I cannot tell if that even on the north of south side of the river, on the east side, or both for that matter.

According to Ed, there are no noble family hailing from Silverymoon.
"Many nobles from elsewhere visit Silverymoon, but its past history of abuses by those in power has aided Alustriel in making sure that there are no true nobles or ruling merchants or merchant families. The wealth, personal powers, and widely varying backgrounds of the traders, crafters, and artists attracted to Silverymoon also works against families or even stable cliques holding power. There are moves to set up shadowy trading cabals, but there are a LOT of Harpers in the city, and they watch for such things and try to thwart them (usually by sewing suspicions within said cabals, until they break apart from within). They also make VERY sure that any guilds that form are guilds in name only, and have no true power to set prices or control supplies of goods or the behaviour of their members." |

I kind of agree too. I don't think there are actual nobles in Silverymoon because it's supposed to be a city of equality and acceptance. There are probably many rich merchants and retired adventurers but I don't think there are nobilities living there. Most of them would probably just stick to Waterdeep or even Neverwinter. |

Would it be too much of a stretch to say that there might not be any? I'd look at ED's "Slice of Silverymoon" piece on the WotC FR Website (Novels section), but no noble family names come readily to mind ..
