Posted - 20 Jan 2016 : 17:15:08 In 3rd edition the map of Faerun was massaged to make it easier to fit on screens and printed material. One of the more obvious changes was that the Sword Coast became less vertical and tended to stretch out to the west as you headed north.
Looking at the 5th edition version of the map in Hoard of the Dragon Queen it seems to be vertical again. I will look at it more carefully but does anyone know what is going on? |

Posted - 21 Jan 2016 : 03:40:35 This is amazingly good news. I did a lot of work creating a digital Faerun for my own use using the 2nd edition map. I was afraid I would need to start over, but it seems I may just be able to carry on as I was. |

Posted - 20 Jan 2016 : 19:52:56 WotC removed a lot of space from the map in 3E -- they decided there was too much empty space, and removed chunks of (not always) empty space from the map and then scrunched it all back together.
They've reversed that, for 5E. |
