Greetings!
I have been a stalker here for years, just enjoying reading through the various threads, but as it so happens, I find myself in need of the collective hivemind here, so I hope you guys can help me.

Full disclosure, I am making modules for the upcoming 5E cRPG Sword Coast Legends, and being a stickler for details, I need to make sure I am sticking to canon as much as possible, but having been away from the realms since the pre-spellplague era, there are a couple of things I just need to be sure about.

I have had a look through the forums, and I can't find any mentioning of it, but would I be right in assuming that as of 1490 DR, Azuth is still very much dead?

Thank you in advance, :)

Hmmm, I really need to read those novels apparently. I hadn't read her earlier ones so was working up to it. Too much to read and so little time.

With respect to Azuth "breaking free", Erin's novels had a very brief cameo by Asmo wherein Asmo chuckles about something silly. It wasn't stated but has been hinted at (outside of the book) that it probably means Azuth isn't quite so dead as people thought, and that he was somehow influencing Mr. 9 Hells.

This is true as of The Adversary...but then Fire in the Blood came out, and got more explicit. This business with Azuth and Asmodeus is basically the story the rest of the series follows. :)

Otherwise, support FR and read her novels!

I am very in favor of this.

He's alive. He's listed in the 5e PHB and can be chosen as deity for WotC official organized play adventures, which are set post-Sundering. Also Asmodeus, who had subsumed him and drained his power, has become a lesser deity, from greater.

From Erin Evans'novels, it seems to me that during the Sundering, he was trying to free himself from Asmodeus' clutches.

Kind of a Segway, but we do also have official that three other gods of magic appear to be back. Leira, Velsharoon, and Savras. Personally, I like the idea that Savras warned Leira of her impending doom post-ToT (and she and Mask possibly worked together to setup the Cyrinishad), and she helped Savras fake his death during the spellplague and helped Velsharoon possibly fake his death as well <to prevent Shar killing him>, so that these deities of magic could help Mystra recover (what they did would make for a good story) and possibly to rescue Azuth.

Anyway, below talks about the return of those deities
http://dndadventurersleague.org/state-of-mulmaster/

As a temple devoted to the gods of magic, it is no surprise that the Tower of Mysteries forms a sprawling complex with the Tower of Arcane Might. The Tower of Mysteries includes small temples to Leira, Velsharoon, and Savras, as well as a shrine to Mystra (whose worship is illegal within the City). Since only Cloaks and visiting dignitaries are allowed to practice magic in the City, anyone entering the Tower of Mysteries can expect to be confronted by one or more Cloaks demanding to see the worshipper’s papers. Only those who have officially sworn to not cast arcane magic in the City, are acknowledged dignitaries, or are members of the Cloaks may pass. Everyone else will suffer further, intense scrutiny.

Thank you for this, spared me a bit of a blush there.
As a follow up question, which minor deities are still dead? Is there a list somewhere on here? Was looking but didn't see one.

And thanks, Artemis! :)

We don't know yet. The PHB deities are most likely all alive. Racial deities haven't been detailed yet, but we know that Eilistraee and Vhaeraun are alive, and that their followers are aware of that. Deep Duerra is also supposedly back. We'll likely know about the rest in November, since an update is coming up.
