Posted - 14 Sep 2014 : 01:36:56 I'm building a campaign set mostly in Chult during the time of 5E D&D, post-Spellplague, not sure the year we're currently in. I'd like to be in the same time as the Hoard of the Dragon Queen module and Lost Mine of Phandelver.
I've been using the information within "The Jungles of Chult" adventure setting, "Forgotten Realms Campaign Guide 4E," and the FR wiki. However, I yearn for more recent information!
Is Ubtao gone? What happened to Mezro? My impression from reading the campaign guide is the deity is no more, the barae are gone with him, and Mezro was annihilated by the Spellplague, leaving ravenous undead where it used to be. It would be a shame if the barae didn't survive, as I thought Ras Nsi was an interesting antagonist.
What of the sarrukh in the area? From the Mhairshaulk kingdom I believe? Are they still looking to awaken the yuan-ti of the Serpentes kingdom, or are all those gone too?
I ask these things because I'm having difficulty fleshing out an overarching story for what I've got right now. Right now I have the PCs landing in Port Nyranzaru for an escort mission. A wild dwarf wants to reclaim a magical artifact called the Myststone (I made it up) from the ruins of one of his clan's former mine that was destroyed during the Spellplague. They'll have to trek through the wilds of Chult to get there, but I want ideas on the current state of affairs there. Maybe a sarrukh leading a cult or something wants the Myststone as well? What are some cool factions and what are their agendas? |

I hope that when we get the 5E book, Chult will be back to some semblance of its original format... The Ring of Winter made me a fan of this area, and I really disliked what was done to it. |
