Posted - 24 Oct 2013 : 20:04:24 I was reading my old 2nd Edition Moonsea guide (which I love!) and ran acrsso an entry for the leader of the rogue's guild in Hillsfar who was level 18. This got me to thinking, I don't recall offhand any level 20+ rogues in Faerun.
Not one for the level in any class approach of the 3rd edition where any character can have a few levels of rogue in them, what are some of the highest level pure rogues out there? Are they all guildmasters? |

Yes they were meant to be "epic level" - I hate that term btw :). It is important to remember that they are generated PCs though, not NPCs. They were created for use by players for high level adventures.
For all writing purposes and adventures in the game, I consider them NPC's lol. In 1st edition yes they were PC's. but when the 2nd revision of bloodstone lands came out, they were background NPC's |

But overall, by this point, the bloodstone gang were meant to be very high level warriors and epic level characters.
I doubt Celedon would have the same stats in 3.5Ed, but hopefully, would still be pretty good.

Celedon Kierney was an 8th level Half Elf Magic user, 21st level Thief/Acrobat. he was well ahead of all the other bloodstone gang characters.
In the 2nd Edition write up of the bloodstone lands, years later, he was listed as a 8th level magic user, 24th level thief/acrobat. Cat One Eye was also in that 2nd edition write up, as a 21st level thief. Tarkos Ree, also from that book was Dimian Ree's brother and a 24th level thief.
Be aware also that thieves advanced quicker than just about any other class back in the days of THAC0. |

Those were pregenerated PCs for use in the "H" adventures. In H1 they were statted out in old BattleSystem sheets. Additionally, in the Throne of Bloodstone module:
"In addition to these 16th-19thlevel characters, some pre-generated 100th-level characters are provided for those of you who are looking for the ultimate in high-level challenges. Good luck! It#146;s not as easy as it looks."
The thief was Hermes, Ruler Of Theives 100th level Deep Gnome Thief / 7th level illusionist
Obviously this higher level pre-rolled characters were for a VERY different High Level system put forth in that module. |

Posted - 25 Oct 2013 : 03:27:53 Wow, nice Firestorm. I have the Bloodstone Lands by Bob, I'll look it up. It's sort of hybrid first/second edition I believe? Or maybe purely 1st edition as Kane is in it as a monk and monks didn't make it into 2nd edition inexplicably...
But all the uber Rogues live in Vassa and Damara it seems! |

Posted - 24 Oct 2013 : 21:22:51 Iltarch Rhinnom Dannihyr, member of the Council of Six of Amn and Grandmaster of the Shadow Thieves of Amn was statted as a Rogue 20 / Wizard 4 in Lands of Intrigue book two, page 9 was turned in a Rogue 15 / Assassin 5 in Lords of Darkness page 172.
Grand Master of Shadows Keshna Finlothleer, leader of the Shadowmasters of Teflamm, is a Rogue 9 / Assassin 4 / Teflammar Shadowlord 9 in Unapproachable East page 184.
Can't remember off-hand other notable names, there are a lot of mid-to-high-level (10-18) rogues around the Lands of Intrigue and in various evil/illegal organizations, but i can't remember other at or above level 20 (even factoring in relevant PrCs). |
