I was curious to know, is drow warfare in the realms just like it is as R.A. Salvatore potrays it? Where they often war with other rival houses and kill off any of the witness?

Seeker Teflon,

It is indeed as it has been said. The best indication of this is from the War of the Spiderqueen Series where you can see first hand what Drow warfare (and for that matter, Illithid, Duergar, Svirfneblin, and others) warfare is like in the Underdark. It is brutal and savage in ways that are quite unique to the surfaceworld.

Best regards,

Sure, just as soon as I have time. Mayhaps on Monday... Tomorrow is Easter, and I have several "family obligations."

Hey Drow Loremaster Shadowlord,

Like all "good" elves, I'm enamored of the drow. I have read all the canon on drow, but I would dearly love to see your work on the drow race. Would I have the honor of reading it?

I suppose no one's pointed at the two pages on this in Drow of the Underdark? Drow warfare, I mean.

Prioritize my charming follower of Vhaeraun. School can't be that important? Can it?

Know that even though the title of the article I sent was drow in depth, I barely even skimmed the surface! Should you require elaboration on a certain section or more info about drow who do not follow Lolth, e-mail me at JAM1122@comcast.net I check my mail almost daily, so I should be very prompt when getting back to you.

Ah, surely you jest? Well, I must pass on a considerable amount of my knowledge to fill this gap. You have one new e-mail, that is about 90 pages long Happy reading. Should you desire more information about the Underdark, its races, their cities, so on and so forth, do not hesitate to ask.
Teflon Posted - 29 Jan 2004 : 05:29:16
That would be great Shadowlord if you could supply me with that info. My group recently started characters in the underdark and I'm a bit rusty on my drow.
Shadowlord Posted - 29 Jan 2004 : 05:16:18
Indeed. It happened quite often in Menzoberranzan, but it doesnt occur as often in Ched Nasad, where calcified webbing joints everything together, and there isn't as much space to be had..... I actually have a big report on drow that I wrote for school. (They wanted you to read a fantasy book, chose a race, write about it, blah blah blah) Its quite long, but details the drow exclusively. Please ask me if you would like to know more about drow, as I am like Candlekeep's "Drow Loremaster"

Generally speaking, anything R.A. Salvatore writes about the Drow is canon. This is mainly because he was the first author working for TSR who wrote anything about the Drow Elves, even really before they had source books. SO, yes, in traditional Drow cities it is something that happens, not very often, but it is not out of the ordinary (i.e. Drow would not be surprised to see it). Now, here's the catch most cities of Drow are not particularly traditional, that is lead by the Lolthies or based on principles of utter ruthlessness and shame governing. Most Drow cities other than Menzoberranzan and a few others are very unique and have strong cetnral governing restricting the common elimination of a enemy house. So yes it happens and is not really rare, but only in certain cities.
