Because I am wondering about what was said in the last book of the trilogy. That maybe Brimstone didn't really rediscover it but there are other dragons in faerun allready playing it and the dragons in the south just didn't know about it. In the god catcher a dragon is although playing it so this could be a prove for it, but I'm not sure of the dates when all those events happend so maybe the dragons in waterdeep where playing the same game as the ones in the south |

Actually, Xorvintaal is explained in great detail on pages 38-47 in the MMV.
Great, thx.

Yes, Dragons fo Fearun doesn't seem to mention it either. It would be interessting to read how the description in the MMV where dragons have to complete a long ritual and loose their spellcasting abilities to play xorvintaal fits together with the version Brimestone teached the other dragons. The latter one originated from Tiamat, so maybe it wasn't the real xorvintaal after all but some way of Tiamat to corrupt more dragons worshipping her. |

Posted - 13 Apr 2012 : 14:40:12 We won't know of any other games being played unless authors include it in their novels or developers release sourcebooks on it. Try Draconomicon (3.5e), i think it has something on the subject. |

Posted - 13 Apr 2012 : 05:28:58 As stated by Meralaine in BOTG trilogy, Brimstone may have brought Xorvintaal to the dragons of the east, but the possibility of dragons all around the realms still playing it is very high. Most likely the Cult of the Dragon which is led by dracoliches are also being played around... |
